    1. An iRobot Roomba 692 — these are self-directed, so you can preset a schedule for the Roomba to start cleaning your floors each week, even when you're not home. Dust bunnies under the sofa...you're doomed.

    Amazon

This sinks to Amazon Alexa or Google Home, so you can give it voice commands whenever something needs to get cleaned, stat. It uses Dirt Detect Sensors to figure out which areas of your home are more highly-trafficked, and cleans them more thoroughly. To learn more, read my colleague's full review on this must-have Roomba.

Promising review: "This product is revolutionary! I wanted one since it first came to the market, but they are not cheap, and I was not wholly convinced they could work. Well, I was wrong. This little robot goes under my furniture, climbs the threshold between rooms, does a fantastic job cleaning my many rugs. It makes a bit noise, but less than the standard vacuum. With the app, I can start it even when I'm not at home (or let it scheduled in advance) to come back to a clean home without experiencing the noise. Cleaning is fast and straightforward, and it works continuously for about two hours without recharging. Each recharge takes three hours." —Lu

    4. A hidden litter box for preventing kicked-up litter particles from ending up on every surface of your cat's "bathroom." Cat parents know — kitty litter is nature's greatest escape artist.

    amazon.com

Promising review: "My feline overlord has historically been very finicky about his litter box. The slightest disturbance used to result in 'accidentally' missing the box. I bought this cabinet because we will be moving in with a dog soon and I wanted him to feel safe using his box. Under his close supervision, I assembled the cabinet in under an hour. I put his old litter box inside and sprinkled cat nip on the walkway. He took right to it with no accidents (knock on wood). I should've bought this years ago!!" —Jen_Vaughn

Get it from Amazon for $170.52 (available in two colors).

    5. A cordless air duster you can use to blast away built-on dust between tight crevices, keyboards, and corners.

    amazon.com, amazon.com

    6. A dry brush set because, and I hate to even bring this up, a quick Google search'll let ya know that 80% of dust is (ugh) dead skin cells. Start an exfoliating routine and let that nasty stuff go straight down the drain instead.

My Dyson in my living room. It is oval shaped with a small footprint and plugged into the wall.
    Mallory Mower / BuzzFeed

This works great with Alexa and it uses an app to monitor temperature, air quality, and humidity in the room it's placed in. Using the app, I was able to see that after moving, my suspicions were correct...my air quality was far worse in my previous apartment (nobody really cleans those pre-war buildings before you move in). This also saved the day when my heater wasn't working in my new apartment (ahhh, New York!). It kept my cat fam warm and now they basically live in front of it. The Dyson is their mom now.

Promising review: "I purchased to help with allergies (cat, pollen, dust mites) in the living room and have noticed a difference. Its automatic filtration kicks on when we're up and about, kicking up dust. The remote is wonderful and docks on the top of the unit with a magnet. The heater is pretty effective but can struggle to heat open layouts more than a few degrees above the ambient temperature." —N Adams
