17 Ways To Make Spring Suck Less

Allergies, weather that can't decide if it's sweltering or freezing, birds waking you up in the morning, and rain, followed by more rain. Spring, can you NOT though?

    1. Master the art of layering to make the most of your spring jackets without freezing — I know you're tired of wearing your winter coats anyway.

    2. Bring back the fun of jumping around in puddles in a pair of classic Hunter rain boots. No matter how big the splash, your tootsies (and shins) will stay dry.

    3. And for those days when a pair of knee-height boots is simply TOO MUCH, slide on a pair of rubber Chelsea boots. They're professional enough for the office, stylish enough for dinner out, and won't make you overheat when you're inside.

    4. The fact that it stays longer in the evenings is great, but the sun coming out at 5am? Not so much. Hang some blackout curtains in the color of your choice to keep those rays from letting you get your morning beauty sleep.

    5. Forget the adage "April showers bring May flowers" — they mostly bring uncontrollable frizz. ~Smooth things over~ with John Frieda's Secret Weapon touch-up cream; it works on all hair types (curly! straight! whatever!) and helps extend your hairdo, even if you get caught in a storm.

    6. I'm sorry to say this, but it's time for spring cleaning. Master the basics you should probably already know by now to make things so much easier. Like, did you know dryer sheets can keep your baseboards dust-free? Now ya do!

    7. Pollen sucks. Soothe your itchy, puffy, irritated eyes and pop one of these gel-filled masks in the fridge for a few minutes. It has a gel ball–side and a plush side so you can customize your cooling level!

    8. Give your allergy-suffering sinus system a dang break when at home; turn on a UV-free air filter that can get rid of over 99% of airborne dust, pollen, mold, smoke, and pet dander.

    9. And for more allergy relief, change your morning showers to evening showers — getting the pollen off your bod and out of your hair right when you get home is best (bye bye nighttime sneezes!).

    10. Those little 10-tissue packs you're used to are NOT big enough for peak allergy season. These Kleenex to-go packs attach to your car seat, purse, backpack, etc. and are filled with 30 soft 'n' plush tissues to keep your sad nose from getting irritated.

    11. Change your rain game and ditch your regular umbrella for an inverting umbrella: it closes backwards, so you don't get those water droplets all over your bag or home. Plus, it has a hands-free handle you can loop over your wrist, because your hands have other shit to do (looking at you, carrying groceries).

    12. Or shelter under a clear bubble umbrella so the wind CANNOT get to you, even if it's hailing or raining sideways. You'll stay dry (and not get stabbed in the eye by someone else's umbrella).

    13. If you're someone who chooses to shave their legs when the warm weather returns, re-learn how to do it right, leaving your skin moisturized and razor bump–free!

    14. Keep a super compact waterproof blanket in your gear for those springtime hikes when the ground is still exceptionally muddy. Plus, you can keep using it throughout the summer, because it's perfect for beach days — the sand shakes right off!

    15. Keep weather surprises at a minimum (and never get caught without your umbrella) by downloading a top-notch weather app like Dark Sky. You can customize your settings to get a weather report every morning when you wake up, set alerts for precipitation, and check out radar maps for ultimate weather geeking.

    16. April and May mean you're longing to wear summery sun dresses, but it simply isn't warm enough yet, so opt for a super-soft maxi dress with cap sleeves and a slit so you can stay comfortable (and receive oodles of compliments).

    17. Being an adult during this time of year means you don't even get spring break anymore! But you still deserve a bit of that vibe and this margarita maker — and 28 other things that'll add a little spring break to your life.

Spring still sucks, but in the meantime, these small changes can help you go from Squidward to Spongebob.
