The Script For "Fawlty Towers" Was Initially Rejected As "Dire"

These days it’s regarded as a masterpiece of British comedy. But in 1973, John Cleese Connie Booth’s pilot script for Fawlty Towers was rejected by script editor Ian Main, who sent this withering note to the BBC’s head of light entertainment.
