Facebook and Instagram both crashed around 6am GMT.
Facebook was offline, on the web and via the app, for just over an hour.
It was pretty intense.
It's the first time Facebook has crashed since September 2014, when the social network went down twice in one month.
Tinder went down too.
The world's news outlets rushed to report this important news.
Thankfully, everyone on the internet kept a sense of perspective and in no way sensationalised the situation.
The usual suspects were blamed.
People dispensed helpful advice.
And alternatives were suggested.
Thank god for Twitter.
However, ITV News reported that both Facebook and Instagram denied being hacked, blaming the outage on "a change that affected our configuration systems".
