After college I was thinking about taking a trip to Europe, but I was nervous because I'd never been out of the country. Then I watched The Secret Life of Walter Mitty and it gave me the confidence to go and not just dream of the places I want to see!

It's visually stunning and really inspires you to go on an adventure. My husband and I saw it at the cinema, and went straight to the airport after to pretend we were catching a flight. We sat in the departures lounge with hot chocolates and planned a trip to Europe.

    2. In Bruges (2008)

Focus Features, Lucentius / Getty Images

The whole time Colin Farrell's character complains about being stuck in Bruges, but that whole city looks absolutely gorgeous! It's on my travel bucket list now.

    3. The Lizzie McGuire Movie (2003)

    Disney, Xantana / Getty Images

I’ve been dreaming of going to Rome since I was a kid just so I could take a picture in front of the Colosseum where Lizzie McGuire owned the stage and caption it “this is what dreams are made of.”

    4. Aladdin (2019)

    Disney, Starcevic / Getty Images

The scenes of the markets and streets of Agrabah made me so excited to get ready for my year abroad in Morocco!

The cinematography is so beautiful and I would just love to spend an entire summer in the town/surrounding area the movie was filmed in. It is so magical and just idyllic.

I watched it for the first time when I was 12 and absolutely fell in love with Italy (and Robert Downey Jr). I've probably watched it at least 100 times since then. My husband and I got married a little over 5 years ago and went to Italy on our honeymoon. We spent a lot of our time in Rome and Positano, where most of the movie takes place.

    14. Lord of the Rings (2001)

New Line Cinema, Aaronchoi / Getty Images

My mum and I became obsessed with the films and were lucky enough to visit New Zealand. What made it even better was that we timed our trip with the premiere of Return of the King in Wellington. We did all the fan tours of the shooting locations and then saw the whole cast and crew being driven to the cinema, with most of Wellington turning up to celebrate. It was the best trip ever, and to this day I still want to live in New Zealand.

    15. Midnight in Paris (2011)

Sony Pictures, Iakovkalinin / Getty Images

Despite my feelings towards Woody Allen, it’s a masterpiece. It shows the beauty, charisma, history, and fun of Paris. I have always wanted to go, but after seeing Midnight in Paris, it’s on my bucket list.

This may seem odd to some, but I will say that Slumdog Millionaire made me want to go to India. It doesn't always paint a great picture of life there, but the culture is truly unique and has a lot to offer. I finally went there in 2016 for two weeks, and it was the best vacation I've ever been on.

But don't just visit the Taj Mahal — put some of these other magical places in India on your list too.
