If you think Bill Skarsgård was scary as Pennywise in _IT_, wait until you meet Roman Godfrey. This three-season horror show is (to put it lightly) unconventional, forcing you to reimagine the traditional vampire-werewolf story in a genuinely frightening way. Though campy at times, _Hemlock Grove_ is the perfect unsettling antidote for your next fruitless all-nighter.

If you're hungering for a stereotypical post-apocalyptic show about a band of teenagers, look no further than... Denmark! This is definitely a hidden gem on Netflix and it's well worth the subtitles. _The Rain_ has an incredible cast of characters, and each episode is full of jaw-dropping plot twists that will leave you wanting more.

Any TV-treasure hunter worth their salt would see this one coming a mile away. Baz Luhrmann (_Moulin Rouge, Romeo and Juliet, The Great Gatsby_, every movie you've ever seen with a neon cross and glittery dancing) created this show to honor the street performers in New York who created hip-hop, rap, punk, and disco as we know them today. If you're a fan of music you've probably already seen this show, and if you haven't then get ready to be wowed.

_The Get Down_

This show is based on a series of books by the author of _The Hitch-Hiker's Guide To The Galaxy_, about holistic detective Dirk Gently who always seems to be in the right and wrong places at the wrong and right times. But unlike the books (and comics, and the British version of the series) the Netflix show focuses on not one character, but a whole cast of amazingly bizarre magical people.
