Why The Winchesters Are Amazing Anti-Heroes

Because saving the world doesn't always mean doing the right thing.

As fans of "Supernatural" know, these brothers have saved the world on multiple occasions, yet they have left a trail of destruction at the same time, making them everyone's favorite anti-heroes.

Also, if you aren't fully caught on the show, you don't want to read further. This is a spoiler place.

Start with the obvious...

Evil has done its fair share of killing off favorite characters, but the Winchesters are are responsible for some of them too.

Let's not forget about the most recent loss. R.I.P.

There have been some who knew they were signing their death warrants by helping Sam and Dean. However, there are cases in which one or both brothers have pressured people into helping them, knowing that they could end up dead. As anti-heroes, Sam and Dean have to carry guilt over the losses as it is partly their fault for dragging them into perilous situations and gain revenge for their fallen comrades.

And the forgotten Winchester

In season 5 Adam and Sam fell into Lucifer's cage, stopping the apocalypse. Sam returned from the fiery cage, but Adam is still stuck in it, suffering from hellish torment. The brothers haven't made any attempt to save him. Possibly because they don't want to accidentally release Michael and Lucifer?

The law...

The law means very little to them. As anti-heroes they don't necessarily break the law because they love to, but because they have to in order to kill monsters.

Though both brothers have tried to form relationships, their S.O. doesn't last long (dies) or comes to serious harm rather than having a normal relationship.

Granted, Ruby inhabited a vegetable body, but not all demons do. Sam and Dean kill demons without a second thought to the people they possess.

The dark side...

Throughout the years fans have watched both brothers succumb to the dark side i.e.Sam drinking demon blood and Dean turning into a demon which have resulted in them going from hero to villain. One brother is usually able to bring the other back to the good side.

You're still still going to root for these two to save the world, though it is partly their fault and they tend to waver on both sides of good and evil. The world is grey in "Supernatural" and these two hot AF brothers do whatever is necessary to save the world.
