Kim Kardashian Revealed How She Prevented Her Kids From Finding Out About Her Feud With Kanye West

“I can’t risk an Access Hollywood ‘coming up next’ or anything on the news coming up with their dad mentioned and they wanna watch.”

Kim Kardashian is continuing to shed light on how she was coping during her feud with Kanye West.

As I’m sure you’re aware by now, Kim’s ex-husband, Ye, blasted her last September in a series of now-deleted Instagram posts. Perhaps most memorably, Ye said he wanted to take “control” over their four kids — North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm — and accused Kim’s mom, Kris Jenner, of pushing his daughters to appear in “playboy and sex tapes.”

“Don’t let Kris make you do playboy like she made Kyle [Kylie Jenner] and Kim do,” he wrote, referring to Kim’s sex tape with Ray J, which was released in 2007 — the very same year that Kris heavily encouraged her to pose nude for Playboy.

“Hollywood is a giant brothel,” Ye continued. “Pornography destroyed my family. I deal with the addiction. Instagram promotes it. Not gonna let it happen to Northy and Chicago.”

Ye also leaked private text messages he’d received from Kim and Kris begging him to stop posting erratically on Instagram. For context, this wasn’t the first time that Ye had targeted the KarJenners in a series of scathing posts — just months prior, in March, he repeatedly slammed Kim and her then-boyfriend, Pete Davidson, after expressing his disapproval of their relationship.

In fact, Ye went so far as to release a disturbing music video depicting a cartoon-like figure of Pete being kidnapped, decapitated, and buried. A couple of months before, he’d dropped a song that featured the lyrics: “God saved me from that crash / Just so I can beat Pete Davidson’s ass.”

All of this, along with other harmful posts shared by the rapper, led to Ye being temporarily suspended from Instagram.

Last April, Kim revealed she’d been “open and honest” with her eldest children about her and Ye.

“I’m really open and honest with them,” she said on Good Morning America. “The younger ones don’t understand as much, but as far as with my two older ones, they know what’s going on.”

“You have to just be there for them. No matter what, even in this crazy life that we live, you just have to have a really open dialogue with your children.”

“At the end of the day, I just want my kids to be happy and healthy and think the world of their dad,” she said. “And they do.”

But while she's been open with them about the split, Kim has kept her kids in the dark when it comes to Ye's harmful social media posts — something that she addressed in the latest installment of Hulu's The Kardashians.

In the episode, which was filmed last September, Kim and Kris sit down for a candid conversation about Ye’s posts.

Kris tells Kim, “Imagine trying to explain this to a 9 year old... North, who I’m sure is hearing something.” She then adds, “Maybe she won’t say it. That’s what breaks my heart.”

Kim then reveals to her mom that North has no idea about any of Ye’s antics.

“She actually doesn’t know,” she says. “And that’s what’s so crazy.”

“When stuff is said, it’s a chain to my household. No TV, only Apple TV,” she says. “I can’t risk an Access Hollywood ‘coming up next’ or anything on the news coming up with their dad mentioned and they wanna watch.”

“I have to figure out a way to protect [my kids], and so they still haven’t seen anything… But I go into crisis mode,” she adds.

Then, in a confessional, Kim elaborates a little further on feeling hurt by Ye’s actions.

“I am the one being accused [of] so many things and blamed for so many things,” she says.

“It really really is hurtful and it sucks, but I can control how I react and I can control if I’m a mess… my kids will see that,” she continues.

“I really do believe in my soul that one day, my kids will appreciate my silence, my understanding, and my grace,” she adds. “I will try my hardest to keep it together at all times.”

You can watch the latest episode of The Kardashians on Hulu now or on Disney+ internationally. The next episode will be available to watch on June 8.
