The band Holy Holy took a moment during their performance on Friday at the Highline Ballroom in New York City to wish David Bowie a happy 69th birthday.
Fans in the audience belted out the song in a voicemail the band left on his phone.
Holy Holy, which is also the name of a Bowie song, includes former Bowie band members Woody Woodmansey and Tony Visconti.
Visconti is Bowie's long-time producer. He first worked with Bowie on the singer's second studio album, Space Oddity. The duo worked together on several albums over the last five decades, including Bowie's two most recent LPs, The Next Day and this year's Blackstar, according to Rolling Stone.
Woodmansey, on behalf of the band, asked fans to "help us celebrate his life and music, that's what he would have wanted" in a Facebook post on Monday.
The band is scheduled to tour the U.S. through Jan. 21.
