Response to 12 Of The Bleakest Places On Earth:
You have GOT to be kidding me with this one, Buzzfeed. You included Youngstown (my beautiful, progressive city, pictured here) along with cities where fucking CHOLERA is rampant (is this the goddamn 19th century?!), you have to step through human & animal waste in the streets, and a place that is literally frozen solid?! Youngstown fell on hard times in the 70s, like many other steel towns, but has bounced back remarkably and is now a growing, thriving city. In fact, in his last State of the Union address, President Obama cited the National Additive Manufacturing Innovation Institute (in Youngstown! Imagine that!) as a way to accelerate a trend in manufacturing that is encouraging firms like Ford and Apple to bring back manufacturing from overseas. He said: “Last year, we created our first manufacturing innovation institute in Youngstown, Ohio. A once-shuttered warehouse is now a state-of-the art lab where new workers are mastering the 3D printing that has the potential to revolutionize the way we make almost everything. There’s no reason this can’t happen in other towns.” I am PROUD to say I am from Youngstown. I am 26 years old and I LIVE DOWNTOWN, and I couldn’t be happier. Go fuck yourselves.
