This Is What Happens When Adults Try Diagramming Sentences

Did you do this infuriating grammar exercise in school?

Do you remember having to diagram sentences in middle or grade school?

Sentence diagramming is a slightly outdated grammar exercise (like, if you were born after the '90s, you might have no effing clue what I'm talking about) which allows you to visualize the different parts and structure of a sentence.

IT WAS ESSENTIALLY A FORM OF TORTURE. And tbh, useless and unnecessarily confusing. With that in mind, let's see how much these grown-ups remember, or how well newbies did when they took a stab at it:

1. This person decided that despite getting them all wrong, an A+ for effort was well deserved.

2. And here is a cross between a math test and an angst-ridden diary entry.

3. This person decided to go with a different interpretation of the word "diagram."

4. Some people just gave up. And that's OK.

7. This person points out that they had computers. Just FYI, a lot of us old people had them too, but we STILL HAD TO DO THIS NONSENSE.
