Are These Exec Changes Fact Or Fake?

Yep, it's not true. We do help you get your caffeine fix by providing plenty of free tea and coffee during exam periods, but not energy drinks. It’s often brought up as an idea though, as part of the ongoing debate about whether students should be encouraged to work whenever they want (even in the middle of the night) or if we should try to encourage healthier behaviour by not giving out energy drinks and not having 24 hour libraries.

This is true – our previous Education Officer Tom Dixon argued that a good use of the university's money would be to give every student an iPad and completely digitise education. It hasn’t happened yet, but maybe some day!

If you don't ask, you don't get. Our Education Officer Melz Owusu included the pledge in her campaign video after students complained that the free breakfast rolls only contained one sausage. It happened, and now the free exam food has two sausages. Yay!

It's not true. A few years ago when Robin Thicke’s ‘Blurred Lines’ came out, it caused a stir amongst students for its inappropriate content and explicit music video. After a brief campaign, it was removed from LUU’s playlists- so it won't be heard in Fruity, our bars, Essentials or any other outlets. But not ALL music with misogynistic references is banned.

Yep – previous Community Officer Jonny Foster campaigned for a ‘Boris Bike’ scheme so students could use a bike to travel around the city, docking it when they're done. Jamie Ali is still working on this project so we could see it happening very soon.

Okay so this is kinda true. Previous Activities Officer Piers Cottee-Jones suggested that while the Union Upgrade was taking place and the Riley was out of action, we could use nightclubs in town as rehearsal spaces for societies – before they opened up for club nights of course.
