Apologies, in the first half of the 20th century
Separation of church and state. Laws should be about protecting the citizens that can’t or don’t have the numbers to protect themselves, not forwardingareligious agenda. This isanon-issue that the court should have smacked downalong time ago. Gay and lesbian couples are members of our society, they aren’t changing, they aren’t going away because you don’t like it, and they should be able to get married so they can share benefits, see and care for each other in hospitals, and enjoy all of the other benefits of any other married couple. In 50 years, when all this has passed, and gay marriages have been protected for2or3generations, everyone opposed to it is going to be viewed by society with the same embarrassment and regret we now have when we look back at those who opposed mixed race marriages in the first half of the 21st century.
