When it comes to Christmas, Sami Hajjar does not mess around. Just look at his house.

For 12 years now, Hajjar has been decking his Montreal home with Christmas lights. Last year he had 15,000 lights, but this year he bumped that up to 100,000.

And it's pretty damn spectacular.

"When I was young I always liked lights; I always liked passing by houses with decorations," Hajjar told BuzzFeed Canada.

For his biggest display ever, Hajjar said he spent 300 hours and $50,000 putting up the lights, taking time off work to get it all done.

He spent many hours more programming the lights for hourly shows set to holiday tunes.

It's become a huge attraction. Hajjar said that on a weekend night there could be as many as 1,000 people gathered to watch.

People can even tag "Sami Hajjar's Christmas Display" as a location on Instagram.

Why do it? He just wants to spread a little cheer.

"Obviously it's fun because it’s my hobby, but people also get happy because of it," he said.
