Sophie Grégoire Trudeau Wants Us To Celebrate Male Allies For International Women's Day

Can we just have, like, one day?

Sophie Grégoire Trudeau — the wife of prime minister Justin Trudeau — has a suggestion for celebrating International Women's Day, but not everyone's a fan.

On Tuesday, Grégoire Trudeau posted a cute photo of herself and the PM holding hands and encouraged women to do the same with their favourite male allies.

Both Grégoire and her husband have been outspoken on their feminist identities, and this is hardly all she's doing for IWD. But people are wondering why we should celebrate men on the one day reserved women and girls.

Like, we just get the one day, ya know?

Ma'am please just let us have the day. #IWD2017

    Let us have it.

People on Facebook were equally befuddled.

Plus, allyship is sort of the least men can do at this point.

Conservative MP Michelle Rempel also weighed in.

I've never had to have my hand held. #equalitymatters

And this person suggested a very viable alternative.
