Sophie Grégoire Trudeau Wants Us To Celebrate Male Allies For International Women's Day

    Sophie Grégoire Trudeau — the wife of prime minister Justin Trudeau — has a suggestion for celebrating International Women's Day, but not everyone's a fan.

    On Tuesday, Grégoire Trudeau posted a cute photo of herself and the PM holding hands and encouraged women to do the same with their favourite male allies.

    "This week, as we mark International Women’s Day, let’s celebrate the boys and men in our lives who encourage us to be who we truly are, who treat girls & women with respect, and who aren’t afraid to speak up in front of others," she wrote.

    "Take a picture holding hands with your male ally & share it on social media using the hashtag #TomorrowInHand. Together, we can create a movement that inspires more men to join the fight to build a better tomorrow with equal rights & opportunities for everyone… because #EqualityMatters."

    Both Grégoire and her husband have been outspoken on their feminist identities, and this is hardly all she's doing for IWD. But people are wondering why we should celebrate men on the one day reserved women and girls.
