7 Queer Web Series You Should Be Binge Watching Right Now

Make some popcorn and forget about outside.

1. Babes

Series creator AJ Ripley describes Babes as being like Broad City if, instead of New York City, it were set in Fredericton, New Brunswick. It follows AJ, a 25-year-old trans man, and his roommate Sybil. While they definitely go against the grain of their conservative town, they're doing their best to make it work.

Also the first episode contains the phrase "cute, queer, moon-faced babies." So you know it's gonna be good.

2. Carmilla

Carmilla Series

It's possible you've been living under a rock if you've somehow missed out on this hugely popular series. It starts with Laura, a student at a fictional eastern European university whose roommate has just gone missing. What follows is vampires, monsters, and a queer romance that will make your lil' heart sing.

Once you're hopelessly addicted, you can wander over to Tumblr and find the Creampuff community. Don't worry, it will all make sense soon.

3. Out With Dad

This series from 2010 starts off with two girls lying on a bed talking talking about how they've never like liked a boy before. And how they've never kissed a girl. And maybe they should try it. With each other.

It has all the clichés of a Lifetime movie but that's exactly why you're going to love it.

4. Féminin/Féminin

Adding some Québecois representation, Féminin/Féminin is a French-language (don't worry, there's subtitles) series following a group of women in Montreal. Throughout the series you get to know the individual women — who span across many identities — so it's sort of like a grown-up, fictional version of The Real L Word.

5. Couple-ish

Sometimes you need a new roommate. And sometimes that roommate needs you to pretend to be their beloved so they can stay in the country. It happens, ya know?

Created by and starring Kaitlyn Alexander — who also appears in Carmilla — this series stars queer and non-binary characters and is as fun as it is cute.

6. High'rd Help

Let's be honest — having a guardian angel to sort out your high school lesbian drama would have been the best. But sometimes even literal divine intervention isn't enough. This series is a perfect reminder that our most awkward years can also be the most hilarious.

7. That's My DJ

That's My DJ

This is a dizzying look at Toronto's electronic music scene, including the sex, substances, and slow-mo sexy dancing that come along with it. Season 2 in particular promises a "sexually charged narrative between two women," so get some popcorn and dig in.

There's also some familiar faces, like Orphan Black's Kristian Bruun and Hemlock Grove's Emily Piggford.
