It Took A Year For A Canadian Couple To Build "The Simpsons” Kitchen In Their House

The couple even got a subtle shout-out on the show last month.

"When you come to our house you walk into a cartoon kitchen," said Andreychuk. "You could be in the grumpiest mood ever, and unless there’s dishes piled up, that’s the only time when you’re not happy to be in that kitchen."

And the people behind The Simpsons love it, too. Nancy Cartwright, the voice of Bart Simpson, tweeted about it back in August.

This couple redecorated their kitchen to replicate TheSimpsons kitchen. Pretty neat!

In fact, they were so impressed that they gave Andreychuk and Hamilton a shoutout in Dec. 13's episode, "Barthood."

In the episode, a hockey announcer references two players — Andreychuk and Hamilton. It was so subtle that they didn't even notice it the first time.

It was only when Andreychuk rewatched it last week that she noticed the names — and thanks to her hockey knowledge, she knew it wasn't just a coincidence.

"I knew immediately in my gut that this was a reference to us," she told BuzzFeed Canada.

Executive Producer Al Jean confirmed on Twitter that it was definitely a shoutout to the couple.

@ChrisPurdyCP it's true; hockey players in barthood were name after Calgary couple who made Simpsons kitchen @TheSimpsons

It was a cool moment for Andreychuk, but for Hamilton — a true Simpsons diehard — it was basically the best thing ever.

"He’s absolutely thrilled," Andreychuk said.

"He says it’s a bucket list item — not that I think anyone really has Simpsons refencene on their bucket list — but it feels like that level of achievement for him."

As for the rest of the house, Andreychuk said they could turn the whole place into the Simpsons' home. But, other than perhaps a tribute to Moe's Tavern in the basement, they're done with the cartoon reno for now.
