Which TV Villains Turned Out Not To Be The Villain At All?

Once I start siding with the villain, then I just know this show is gonna be good.

So, have you ever been watching a new show and suddenly had this weird feeling that maybe, just maybe, the "villain" isn't actually a villain at all?

Like, okay, yes they're presented as the bad guy, but sometimes they're actually the most sensible ones on the show!

For instance, on Pretty Little Liars, Aria's parents were portrayed as the bad guys for not approving of Aria's relationship with Ezra. But...maybe they were right for not wanting their teenage daughter to date her high school English teacher!!

Or take Regina Mills in Once Upon a Time. During the earlier seasons, she was portrayed as the Evil Queen, and yeah, maybe she didn't make the BEST decisions, but she just wanted to protect her son from a random woman he just met.

There's Addison Montgomery from Grey's Anatomy, who's meant to be the foil to Derek and Meredith's relationship, but then she just became the most badass surgeon of the bunch. She also never failed to call Derek out when no one else would.

Or Negan from The Walking Dead, who definitely did some bad things but made up for them later on. It's just an undeniable fact that if the series was told from Negan's perspective, and not Rick's, it'd be impossible not to root for him.

So, which TV villains aren't actually villains at all, and why? Tell us in the comments below and your response might be included in a BuzzFeed Community post.
