Here Are 21 Of The Best New And Returning Shows Coming In April 2023

This month includes the new Elizabeth Olsen show Love & Death, two Reese Witherspoon-produced series, a Grease prequel, and so much more.

From the creator of shows like Big Little Lies and The Undoing comes your next true crime obsession, Love & Death. Elizabeth Olsen stars as Candy Montgomery, aka the '80s housewife who brutally axe-murdered her friend and had an affair with her husband. For reference, the show's creators turned to Jim Atkinson and Joe Bob Briggs's book, Evidence of Love: A True Story of Passion and Death in the Suburbs, which features exclusive interviews from the families involved to bring the story to life.

2. The Last Thing He Told Me

Based on Laura Dave's best-selling novel, The Last Thing He Told Me follows Hannah, a woman who's tasked with parenting her new stepdaughter Bailey after her husband (and Bailey's dad) mysteriously disappears. Throughout the miniseries, the relationship between the two will develop into an unbreakable bond as they search for any clues left that may locate Bailey's father. This is the latest series coming from Reese Witherspoon and her production company Hello Sunshine.

3. Barry Season 4

Barry begins its final season journey right after the climactic events of Season 3. Barry is now in jail and unraveling as he deals with his own guilty conscience and promises to change once and for all. While Barry comes to face his consequences, he also must deal with the ever-relentless Fuches, who's behind bars with him.

4. Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies

Set in 1954, four years before the original Grease film, this series explores the origins of the beloved Pink Ladies. Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies follows four fed-up outcasts who decide to take matters into their own hands and have fun on their own terms as they come into their own as the Pink Ladies. Basically, Rydell High will never be the same.

5. Schmigadoon! Season 2

This beloved musical comedy series returns, and we've made it to a new era. Season 2 follows Josh and Melissa as they wish they could find the magic Schmigadoon brought into their lives, so they decide to go back. But to their surprise, they find themselves in Schmicago, the reimagined world of '60s and '70s musicals. 6. Saint X

Adapted from Alexis Schaitkin's novel, Saint X is told through multiple timelines and explores and upends the girl-gone-missing genre. The series follows a young woman's mysterious death during an idyllic Caribbean vacation. Her death creates a ripple effect that eventually pulls her surviving sister into a dangerous pursuit of the truth.

7. Tiny Beautiful Things

8. The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Season 5

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel is coming to an end this year, and the feeling is so bittersweet. 9. Waco: The Aftermath

This five-part series follows the tragic aftermath of the disastrous 1993 FBI standoff at the Branch Davidian compound in Waco, Texas. The series will also explore the rise of the American militia movement, which foreshadowed major events like the Oklahoma City bombing in 1995. Waco: The Aftermath is a sequel series to the 2018 miniseries Waco, and it comes 30 years after the original attack in 1993. Michael Shannon and John Leguizamo will also reprise their roles as Gary Noesner and Jacob Vasquez.

12. Citadel

From the Russo brothers comes this spy thriller series with spies from key countries who come together for the ultimate mission. This series takes place eight years after the fall of Citadel. The independent global spy agency — tasked to uphold the safety and security of everyone — was destroyed by a powerful syndicate named Manticore, who is manipulating the world from the shadows. With Citadel's downfall, elite agents Mason Kane and Nadia Sinh had their memories wiped and have remained hidden ever since as they try to rebuild their lives. 13. The Afterparty Season 2

The Afterparty returns for Season 2, with a whole new mystery for Det. Danner to investigate. This season, a wedding is ruined when the groom is suddenly murdered, and every guest is a suspect. Det. Danner returns, along with Aniq and Zoë, to solve this new whodunnit by questioning family members, business partners, and even star-crossed lovers. Elizabeth Perkins, Zach Woods, Paul Walter Hauser, Poppy Liu, Anna Konkle, Jack Whitehall, Vivian Wu, John Cho, and Ken Jeong all join the cast this season.

14. Transatlantic

15. Fatal Attraction

19. Firefly Lane Season 2, Part 2

The final seven episodes of Firefly Lane come to Netflix this month, and I'm so, SO sad the end is here. We left off in Part 1 with Tully heading off to Antarctica and Kate receiving her cancer diagnosis. In the present-day storyline, we'll pick up shortly after Tully leaves and Kate begins treatment. Meanwhile, in the '80s storyline, we'll finally see how Kate and Johnny got together. And for any of those worried about Tully and Kate's friendship, the trailer has already confirmed that they WILL finally have the reunion we've all been hoping for.

20. Mrs. Davis
