19 Actors Who Got Tattoos To Honor Their TV And Movie Roles

    At the end of filming Suicide Squad, Margot Robbie, Cara Delevingne, and Will Smith took turns tattooing the movie's cast and crew.

    1. Pete Davidson got the name of his Big Time Adolescence character tattooed on his leg, and he let his close friend and costar Machine Gun Kelly give it to him.

    2. Florence Pugh has a maypole tattoo to commemorate her movie Midsommar.

    3. Yasmeen Fletcher, Laurel Marsden, and several of their Ms. Marvel castmates got lightning bolt tattoos that match the show's logo.

    Matt Lintz, Rish Shah, Saagar Shaikh, Laith Nakli, and Alysia Reiner were among the others who got tatted. 

    4. Lea Michele got a few tattoos after playing Rachel Berry on Glee. She got tattoos of a gold star, the name "Finn," and the number 5 — the latter two were to honor her boyfriend and costar Cory Monteith, who died in 2013.

    5. Emilia Clarke got three tiny dragons tattooed on her wrist after starring as Daenerys Targaryen, the mother of dragons, on Game of Thrones.

    6. Kaley Cuoco and Zosia Mamet got matching paper airplane tattoos to commemorate their time on The Flight Attendant together.

    7. Tom Holland revealed that he got a Spider-Man tattoo on the bottom of his left foot, and apparently, it was very painful.

    He said, "It hurt SO much! I always wanted to get that Spider-Man symbol on the bottom of my foot, but I just never thought that I would ever get it done, but the opportunity came about. I actually had to have it done three times, though, because on the bottom of your foot, it fades away."

    8. Selena Gomez, Tommy Dorfman, and Alisha Boe all got semicolon tattoos to commemorate their time working on 13 Reasons Why.

    Brandon Flynn and some other cast members got the matching tattoo as well. The semicolon symbol was inspired by Project Semicolon, a nonprofit that helps those dealing with depression and advocates for suicide prevention. 

    9. Sophie Turner got a direwolf and the phrase "The pack survives" tattooed after she finished filming the last season of Game of Thrones.

    She also shared that when she got it, she was "advised" not to because "it looked like [she] gave everything away" before fans got to see the finale. 

    10. Sophie also added to her collection with the tiny flames she got to honor her movie Dark Phoenix.

    11. Neil Patrick Harris got a tattoo of the Volunteer Fire Department (V.F.D.) symbol from A Series of Unfortunate Events when the series got picked up for a second season.

    12. Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul got Breaking Bad tattoos on the last day of filming the series.

    In an interview with GQ, Bryan revealed that one of the set decorators on the show was a tattoo artist, and he had the idea to give anyone from the production a tattoo if they wanted one. So, Bryan got the Breaking Bad logo on the inside of his finger, and Aaron got "No half measures" on his bicep.

    13. The Lord of the Rings cast and crew got matching tattoos right before filming wrapped to honor their time filming the movies.

    14. Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Robert Downey Jr., Jeremy Renner, and Chris Hemsworth got matching Marvel tattoos after they wrapped Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame, the movies that ended their MCU journeys.

    While Mark Ruffalo is the only original Avenger who didn't get the tattoo (not without trying!!), the symbol represents each of their MCU characters: Iron Man, Captain America, Black Widow, Thor, Hawkeye, and Hulk. RDJ told Entertainment Weekly that Scarlett was the one who came up with the idea and that she and Chris got theirs first. Jeremy and RDJ got theirs next and "bullied [Chris] Hemsworth into doing it."

    15. Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan all got matching crown tattoos that double as a "'W' for Winchester," aka their characters' last name on Supernatural.

    16. China Anne McClain, Thomas Doherty, Dylan Playfair, along with some Descendants dancers, all got anchor tattoos to remember Uma and her pirate crew.

    17. Troian Bellisario, Ashley Benson, Shay Mitchell, Sasha Pieterse, Lucy Hale, and Janel Parrish got tattoos to remember their Pretty Little Liars characters after the series ended.

    18. Tessa Thompson has three dots tattooed on her ankle to commemorate Thor: Ragnarok, the third Thor movie and the film where she made her debut as Valkyrie.

    She shared that her friend and Ragnarok director Taika Waititi was actually the one who gave it to her. 

    19. Finally, the Suicide Squad cast got matching "SKWAD" tattoos, and Margot Robbie, Cara Delevingne, and Will Smith took turns giving them to people.
