Two People Released On Bail After 5-Year-Old Dies At Water Park

The young boy died after an incident at Bosworth Water Park in Leicestershire on Saturday.

A man and a woman arrested after a 5-year-old boy died during an incident at a water park in Leicestershire on Saturday have both been bailed.

Police were called to Bosworth Water Park in Market Bosworth at 3:50pm following an incident at its "blue lagoon beach" attraction.

The boy, who received CPR at the scene, was taken to nearby University Hospitals of Coventry and Warwickshire but later died.

Two people have been arrested in connection with the incident as a police investigation into what happened gets underway. Their ages and their relationship to the boy have not been disclosed.

Police have issued an appeal, both on their website and the water park's Facebook page, for eyewitness accounts of Saturday's tragic events, but have urged people not to speculate about circumstances surrounding the death.

The appeal makes a particular request for any video footage captured at the water park on Saturday.

Responding to the Facebook appeal, Sally-anne Jepson said she "thought the staff and emergency services acted quickly," and offered her "deepest sympathy to the whole family".

Jodie Leanne said the incident was "truly heartbreaking to witness". She added that "all day and night I was praying that you would win your fight!"

Penny Broughton said she had assisted paramedics with CPR and said "it truly was [the] most heartbreaking thing I've done". She too added that her thoughts were with the family at this time.

Leicestershire police have asked anyone with information to contact 101, quoting incident 440 of 23 July.
