In an interview with Pedestrian, Zoë said that she interpreted Selina Kyle in the film as a bisexual character.

You see, in addition to flirting with Batman throughout the film, Catwoman also has a female friend named Anika who she at one point calls "baby" — which Zoë confirmed is an indication of her bisexuality.

"That's definitely the way I interpreted that," Zoë said, "that they had some kind of romantic relationship."

The film's director, Matt Reeves, said that "I don’t think we meant" to go in that direction with the character of Selina, but he did confirm that the characters have a special relationship.

"She has an intimacy with that character and it’s a tremendous and deep caring for that character, more so than a sexual thing, but there was meant to be quite an intimate relationship between them.”
