Bebe Rexha Got Extremely Real About Body-Shaming And Weight Discourse, And She's Right To Say It

"Listen, we're in the public eye, so that's bound to happen. I was a lot thinner and I did gain some weight — that comes with the territory."

This post contains discussion of body image issues.

Bebe Rexha has been speaking out about body-shaming recently, and it's been very refreshing.

Last month, she responded to people who were still discussing her body online, calling the conversation "upsetting."

Earlier this month, she also revealed that her record label told her to lose weight when she was first signed.

During a recent appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show, Bebe talked more about how the discussion around her weight makes her feel, as well as her recent PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome) diagnosis.

The Mayo Clinic defines PCOS as "a problem with hormones that happens during the reproductive years."

"It's one of the leading causes of why women gain weight and are obese," she told Jennifer. "I literally jumped, like, 30 pounds so quickly, maybe a little bit more."

"But we gotta just be positive and just show people love."

Nonetheless, not everyone has been kind and fair — and Bebe addressed that while talking to Jennifer. "Listen, we're in the public eye, so that's bound to happen," she said.

"I was a lot thinner and I did gain some weight — that comes with the territory. I'm not mad about it because it is true, but when you see things like that, it does mess with you."

"You don't know what somebody's going through, what they're going through in their life, so it kind of is tough," she continued.

"But I feel like we're in 2023 ... we should not be talking about people's weight," Bebe added.
