No one likes spoilers, but it can be hard to keep your mouth shut about an incredible movie you've just seen. It's even more challenging for the actors who are excited to share their latest project with the world.
Some actors can't help themselves and accidentally reveal movie spoilers. Others, however, will lie right to your face before ruining their movie for you.
Here are 22 times actors spoiled their own movies:

1. Starting with the Spoiler King of Hollywood, Tom Holland revealed that Spider-Man died in Avengers: Infinity War in front of an entire theater of people who were just about to watch the movie.

Thinking they'd just finished watching it, he ran up to the front of the room and said, "I'm alive!"
Earlier in the interview, his costar Benedict Cumberbatch joked that he was only there to stop Holland from accidentally leaking any spoilers.
3. He also spoiled the return of Jamie Foxx as Electro in Spider-Man: No Way Home by accidentally name-dropping him about a week before the official trailer dropped. He told Total Film Magazine, "Everyone puts their trousers on in the same way in the morning. I'm talking about Alfred and Jamie and those guys."
Even though he only mentioned his costar's first name, fans quickly put the pieces together.
4. The Spider-Man: No Way Home cast "were all under orders not to talk about it, because it was supposed to be some great big secret," but Alfred Molina spoke openly about his return as Doc Ock because "it’s all over the internet."
Even though neither Marvel nor Sony had confirmed his casting at the time, he told Variety, "I actually described myself as the worst-kept secret in Hollywood!"
5. Hugh Jackman accidentally spoiled his character's death in Logan when he told Entertainment Weekly, "Logan is someone who is most scared of intimacy, and so he wants to be alone and do things for himself. The idea that, in the end, he must give his life to save someone else…I thought that was really powerful."
He continued, "I know this doesn’t sound right coming from an Australian, but at some point, you’ve got to leave the party...it’s time to go home."
6. No one outside of the production knew who Mads Mikkelsen was playing in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story until he accidentally mentioned that he was Jyn Erso's father (Galen Erso) — during a live interview!
He told Sky News, "I read the script and it was very beautiful, and Felicity [Jones] is playing this lovely young, strong woman, and I play her father. That was too much, I'm sorry."
7. Jiang Wen revealed that Donnie Yen's character, Chirrut Îmwe, would die in Rogue One.
During a panel at Star Wars Celebration Europe, Wen explained that Îmwe's death spurred Baze Malbus's character arc.
8. Two years before Empire Strikes Back premiered, David Prowse revealed that Darth Vader was Luke's father.
At a 1978 fan event in California, Prowse said, "Father can't kill son, son can't kill father." The flub was reported in a local newspaper.
9. Harrison Ford subtly spoiled Han Solo's heroic death in The Force Awakens.
Ford had been anticipating his character's death for a long time. He'd been very vocal about it for quite a while.
10. Samuel L. Jackson revealed Mace Windu's fate in Revenge of the Sith with a one-word answer: "Dying."
Now Playing magazine asked Jackson what his character would be up to in the new Star Wars film. However, he didn't see it as a spoiler because, in the original trilogy, Windu was already one of all but four Jedi who were dead.
11. He also gave some vague answers about how Nick Fury's backstory would unfold in Captain Marvel, but he promised Entertainment Tonight that a question fans had been asking for a long time would finally be answered.
He said, "You'll see, specifically, the origin of what happened to his eye."
12. Continuing the trend of Marvel actors who can't be trusted, Mark Ruffalo accidentally livestreamed the first 20 minutes of Thor: Ragnarok.
Before the film's 2017 premiere, he had gone live on Instagram. When the movie started, he couldn't figure out how to end the stream, so he just put his phone in his pocket. Even though people kept messaging him to tell him what was happening, he ignored his phone until a Disney representative came up and told him to turn it off.
13. He also spoiled the numerous character deaths at the end of Avengers: Infinity War.
After letting the spoiler slip during an interview with Good Morning America, he asked, "Am I in trouble?" However, Don Cheadle, who was also part of the interview, revealed to Jimmy Kimmel that Ruffalo didn't face any real fallout from Marvel afterward.
14. While talking about the alternative endings he filmed, Ruffalo revealed that Captain America gets married in Avengers: Endgame.
He dropped the spoiler just a few short weeks before the final Avengers film was released.
15. Gwyneth Paltrow revealed that Pepper Potts and Tony Stark had a daughter in Avengers: Endgame.
She told the official Avengers: Infinity War magazine, "Pepper and Tony have had a real long journey together. She obviously starts as his dutiful assistant, and then the relationship evolves, and now this decade later, they're married, and they have a child. Their relationship has evolved in all of the ways that great romances evolve."
16. Will Smith revealed the entire plot of I Am Legend at a news conference in Tokyo.
Akiva Goldsman, the film's coproducer and co-screenwriter, yelled at him not to give away the ending, but it was too late. Afterward, everyone in attendance was asked to keep everything Smith said a secret so the movie wouldn't be ruined.
17. An extra named Tyler Nelson broke his NDA by revealing major spoilers for Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull to his local newspaper.
He told the Edmond Sun about a lot of major plot points, such as how the Russian army blackmails Indiana Jones into helping them and who finds the crystal skull first. Lucasfilm filed a lawsuit against Nelson, but it was settled out of court.
18. Michael Keaton revealed that the Joker killed Bruce Wayne's parents in Batman the day before the film hit theaters.
After catching himself, the Late Night With David Letterman guest joked, "I’ve kind of blown the plot here.”
19. Anne Hathaway spoiled the ending of The Dark Knight Rises with her reaction to David Letterman's conjecture that Batman would die.
She told the late-night host, "I just want you to know the wrath that you have just invited onto yourself." Then she apologized to director Christopher Nolan.
20. Rachel McAdams revealed that her character's husband travels forward in time to his own death in The Time Traveler's Wife.
She accidentally gave away the entire plot on The Daily Show With Jon Stewart by explaining that he only travels through time between his own childhood and death.
21. Jason Momoa revealed that Arthur Curry would be crowned king of Atlantis at the end of Aquaman in a live interview with Entertainment Weekly at San Diego Comic-Con.
He said, "I think when he was a little boy, he had these powers and he didn't hone them in, so this [was the] whole journey of him going to become the king."
22. And finally, Sylvester Stallone tweeted a picture of the last page of the Creed script.

A fan deciphered the scene, which showed Adonis Creed winning his boxing match but also revealed Stallone's cancer diagnosis.

23. When The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon asked Benedict Cumberbatch if he was going to appear in Avengers: Endgame, he coyly replied, "I'm dust, baby."
Then, when Fallon continued to press him and ask if Doctor Strange could come back from the dead, he pretended to be clueless.
24. He also lied about his character in Star Trek Into Darkness, insisting that he was only John and not the iconic villain Khan.
"I play a character called John and not that other name. It’s interesting. Speculation is speculation, and that’s all fun," he told Access.
25. Learning from his past mistakes, Tom Holland managed to hold it together when The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon asked him if Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield would be making cameos in Spider-Man: No Way Home.
He said, "It would be amazing if they were, because they haven't told me that yet ... I am Spider-Man, and I've read the script from beginning to end. So it would've been a miracle if they could've kept that from me."
26. Andrew Garfield also lied to keep his appearance in No Way Home a secret. In fact, he even lied to his The Amazing Spider-Man costar Emma Stone.
On the Happy Sad Confused podcast, he said, "She was like, 'Shut up. Just tell me.' I'm like, 'I honestly don't know' — I kept it going, even with her. And then she saw it. She was like, 'You're a jerk.'"
27. Charlie Cox — who reprised his role as Matt Murdock in No Way Home — claimed he didn't even know about the rumors surrounding Daredevil's possible return to the MCU.
He told ComicBook.com, "I hadn't heard those rumors, but it's certainly not with my Daredevil. I'm not involved in it. If that's true, it's not with me. It's with another actor."
28. Hailee Steinfeld denied the rumors that she was cast as Kate Bishop in Hawkeye and suggested that she was pivoting away from acting.
She told SiriusXM's The Morning Mash Up, "You know, right now, I will tell you that music is where my head is at. That's what I'm focused on … that is what is occupying my brain at the moment."
29. Joining the ranks of Marvel actors who know how to keep their casting under wraps, Tatiana Maslany flat-out denied reports that she had been cast as the lead in She-Hulk.
She told the Sudbury Star, "That actually isn’t a real thing, and it’s like a press release that’s gotten out of hand. It’s totally not — I’ve been connected to these things in the past, and press has gotten onto it, but it’s not actually a thing, unfortunately."
30. When Christoph Waltz was cast in Spectre, both the actor and the official James Bond Twitter account denied that he'd be playing Ernst Stavro Blofeld — aka the head of SPECTRE.
When Collider asked him if his character, Franz Oberhauser, was the head of SPECTRE, he said, "No, it’s more interesting than that." Of course, it turned out that Oberhauser actually was Blofeld.
31. Allison Williams spent nearly two years lying about the premise of Get Out to all of her friends and family. She also lied to the press, claiming that her character, Rose, would "have to choose between [her] family and [her] boyfriend."
She told HuffPost, "Literally people I’ve known for my entire life, I was like, this is the premise of the movie ... and then they’d get out of the movie, and they’re like, 'I have to talk to you for two reasons. One, our friendship is over. Two, I loved the movie.'"
32. Jonathan Majors denied reports that he'd be joining the MCU as Kang the Conqueror.
On The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, he said, "I heard the same thing ... we apparently have the same source."
33. Denying rumors that her The Dark Knight Rises character, Miranda Tate, was actually the villainous Talia al Ghul, Marion Cotillard insisted to MTV that Miranda was "a good guy" and “was not based on a character of the comic."
However, after the movie premiered and exposed her lies, she told the same MTV reporter, "I knew one day I would have to face you," but she said she "would've done the same" to protect her character's secret regardless.
34. When Allocine asked Joaquin Phoenix about the rumors he was starring in Joker, he replied, "What movie about the Joker?"
He continued, "I have no idea what you’re talking about ... Don’t be sorry."
35. Jason Momoa promised MTV reporter Josh Horowitz that the reports he was going to play Aquaman in Batman vs. Superman were just rumors. He said, "Man to man, you can punch me in the face [if I'm lying]."
Four years later, the Happy Sad Confused podcast creator delivered on that promise and playfully punched Momoa in the face.

36. A month before Brie Larson was announced as the new Captain Marvel, MTV told her that a lot of fans wanted her to play the hero. However, she pretended not to know who the character was, asking, "Isn't that a boy?"
She continued, "I'm down to play Chris Evans. Oh wait, no, Chris Evans is Captain America. Who's Captain Marvel? I have no idea what I'm talking about."
37. And finally, pictures from the Suspiria set seemed to show Tilda Swinton wearing a lot of prosthetic makeup to play Dr. Josef Klemperer — but director Luca Guadagnino swore that it was actually Lutz Ebersdorf, a German psychoanalyst, in the photos.
The production released a bio for Ebersdorf, and his costars spoke of his influence on them in interviews. At the film's premiere, he apologized for not attending through a letter that Swinton read.
However, Swinton finally came clean to the New York Times, revealing that she'd been Ebersdorf the entire time. She said, "Undeniably, I would have to say, [I did it] for the sheer sake of fun above all. As my grandmother would have it — a motto to live and die by: 'Dull not to.'"
