I was at the all star game in Houston when Derek Jeter came to the stands to sign autographs. I ran down with my program while he was signing and this boy in front of me got his baseball signed and turned around to go back to his parents. The crowd started pushing closer causing me and others to run into the boy who just starts yelling, “he’s just a man!” As he is yelling this, Derek looks up at us. A taller person behind me starts to take pictures then and doesn’t realize his camera strap is now wrapped around my head. I lock eyes with Derek while struggling with a strap around my face. He tells everyone to calm down, signs a few more baseballs and goes in the dugout. I feel like we had a moment there and I may have missed my chance to become his wife.
