The Trendiest Baby Name In The History Of The US Is — Believe It Or Not — Linda

    Linda? Really?

We already gave you a list of the most popular baby names of 2017, but have you ever wondered what the trendiest baby name of all time is?

Well, the trendiest American baby name ever may surprise you a little bit.

David Taylor, a biotechnologist and blogger, developed a metric that considers a name's popularity and the rate of its rise and decline.

Taylor discovered that in 1947, the name ~Linda~ skyrocketed in popularity when it was the baby name of nearly 5.5% of girls.

The name was made popular by musician Jack Lawrence, whose song "Linda" was at the top of the Billboard charts.

Lawrence wrote the song for Linda Eastman, who was the 5-year-old daughter of his attorney, Lee Eastman. Linda would later become the first wife of Beatle's singer Paul McCartney.

Since then, no other US baby name has trended so much in such a short amount of time.

And if you're wondering what the difference is between "popular" and "trendy," well, popular names are favored all the time while trendy names (like Linda) are wildly favored for a relatively short period of time.

So, listen, Linda. You go tell the world that you have the trendiest name ever in US history.
