Here's How 15 Celebrity Kids Were Named, According To Their Famous Parents

1. In a 2018 interview with Ellen, Cardi B said her husband Offset picked the name Kulture for their daughter. The word "culture" has significance because Offset's hip hop group, Migos, has two hit albums named Culture and Culture II.

Kulture Kiari Cephus is currently 1 year old and is the couple's only child. Her middle name is actually Offset's first name in real life. During her interview with Ellen, Cardi said, "Yeah, my dude named the baby. I really like the name," adding that the name is "almost tricky, but when it comes out it's like, AHHHH!"
2. Also last year on Ellen, Kim Kardashian talked about how she and husband Kanye West named their daughter Chicago after considering the names Jo and Donda. Kanye is from Chicago and often mentions the city in his music.

Chicago is the third born of Kim and Kanye's kids – North (6), Saint (3), Chicago (1), and Psalm (5 months). Kim told Ellen, “We were gonna name her Jo, ’cause my Grandma, Mary Jo. Or we were gonna go with Grace — and then it was Chicago." The couple also considered the name Donda, which is Kanye's late mother’s name.
3. In an interview during a Rap Radar podcast, Jay Z talked about the meaning of his and Beyoncé's twins' names. He said his daughter Rumi is named after the couple's favorite poet – Jalal ad-Din Muhammad Rumi – and his son, Sir, just came out carrying himself like a sir.

Jay Z told hosts Elliott Wilson and Brian Miller that Sir "was born with swagger." He said, “Sir was like, man, come out the gate. He carries himself like that. He just came out, like, Sir.” The twins are 2 years old and the couple's oldest daughter, Blue Ivy, is 7.

And, as for Jay Z and Beyoncé's eldest Blue Ivy, Beyoncé pretty much told us the meaning behind her name in her blog when she quoted: “This light does not touch us, does not travel the whole distance, the light that gets lost, gives us the beauty of the world, so much of which is in the color blue.”

5. In an interview with Good Morning Britain, Ryan Reynolds talked about how his and Blake Lively's daughter is named James after his father who passed away.

After being told that the name James was "unusual for a girl" by host Kate Garraway, Ryan said, "I know, but in the spectrum of, like, weird celebrity baby names, I feel like we're not really breaking any new ground here. I didn't call her Summer Squash Meadowlark." James is 4 years old, and the couple also has two other kids: Inez (3) and a baby whose name has not yet been reported.
6. While talking to Ellen, Ashton Kutcher said that when his wife Mila Kunis was pregnant with their son, she randomly blurted out in the car that his name would be Dimitri and it stuck.

Ashton told Ellen that Mila said, "So, I think Donald Trump is going to become the president and I think our baby's name is Dimitri." Ashton went on to say that all he thought was Donald Trump was not going to become president and shrugged off the baby name she suggested. But, two weeks later, the name stuck in his head and they both agreed it would be the baby's name. Dimitri is currently 2 years old.
7. And Ashton and Mila's first born – daughter Wyatt – was also named kind of randomly...and also in the car. In an interview with Conan O'Brien, Ashton said he started jokingly listing off random items that popped into his head and then he thought of Wyatt.

Ashton said, “I had to get the creative juices going, so we were going to a Laker's game and I just started listing off anything and everything I saw: ‘sign, truck, wall, door…' Then I was like, ‘I’ve got a really dumb idea. What about Wyatt?’ And the rest is history. Wyatt is now 5 years old.
8. Christina Aguilera and fiancé Matt Rutler named their daughter Summer Rain because they feel it's a name filled with inspiration, love, and joy. In an exclusive cover story for People magazine, Christina said, “And that’s exactly what she brings to all who encounter her. Her beauty and sunshine exude from within.”

9. Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling named their youngest daughter Amada after Eva's grandmother – and because it means "loved" in Spanish.

Speaking to Latina magazine, Eva said, "My grandmother's name is Amada and Amada is the middle name of our oldest. We had a few names picked out for our new baby, and when she was born, we didn't feel like those names were her." Esmeralda is 5 and Amada is 3.
10. In an interview with Ellen, Drew Barrymore told her how she and ex-husband Will Kopelman settled on the name Olive for their oldest daughter. It was during a doctor's appointment when she was told her baby was the size of an olive.
"I was three months pregnant and they said, 'Your baby is the size of an olive' and that was it," Drew said snapping her fingers. Olive is 7 years old now and the two also have a daughter named Frankie who is 5.
11. Halle Berry and ex-husband Olivier Martinez named their son Maceo Robert because it is “a name that’s great in both the U.S. and France,” Olivier told People magazine.

Maceo is of Spanish origin and means "gift of God." Oliver is French and his father was a Spanish boxer. Maceo is now 6 years old. Halle also has an 11-year-old daughter Nahla Gabriel Aubry.
12. David and Victoria Beckham's daughter Harper is named after author Harper Lee who wrote one of Victoria’s favorite books – "To Kill a Mockingbird."

13. Holly Madison told E! News that her and ex-husband Pasquale Rotella's daughter was given the name Rainbow because it was unique.
“I wanted to give my daughter a unique name,” Holly said. “Growing up, there was a girl in my school named Rainbow and I was so envious of that name. I thought it was so pretty and unique!” Rainbow is now 6 years old and the two also have a son together, 3-year-old Forest.
14. In an interview for Evening Standard, Kylie Jenner said she doesn't remember how the name "Storm" came up, but that she and ex Travis Scott both liked it. They added an "i" to make the name "Stormi" since she didn't want just plain "storm."
Kylie said, “I really don’t know how we thought of Storm. Her dad insisted it was him, but I feel like it was me. And that kind of just stuck with us.” Stormi is now 1 year old.
15. And Gwyneth Paltrow defended her daughter Apple's name during an interview with Howard Stern, saying her ex, Chris Martin, named her.
