Loads Of People Are Now Apparently Tattooing Their Eyeballs

Ow...ow...OW.

The new trend in body modification appears to be eyeball tattoos.

According to the BBC, the practice started when a tattoo artist named Luna Cobra began practicing with syringes to mimic the look of characters from the film Dune.

Since then it has flourished, with nearly 16,000 people liking the Facebook page Eyeball Tattoos.

The procedure involves a number of injections so that the chosen color dye rests on the eye's top layer, the conjunctiva. Yes, it is permanent.

Cobra says the modification can bring a "realm of fantasy into real life."

However the practice doesn't seem to be without its dangers. Noisey reported earlier that Jamaican dance hall artist Mace had almost blinded himself when trying to blacken his eyeballs.
