Formed in 2001, this Pinoy rock band is more popular for their slow, heartfelt ballads. "Sa 'Yo," part of their fourth studio album "Monochromatic," serves as a soundtrack to the local broadcast of South Korean TV drama "Angel Eyes."
5. Flying Ipis

Filipino music fans find it surprising that the band with a name that translates to "Flying Cockroach" are composed of four women. Their latest single "Lundagin Mo, Beybi!" is an example of their unique combination of upbeat rock style and garage guitar riffs.

A member of hip-hop group Stick Figgas, Ron Henley has earned online success with his solo EP "Wala Pang Titulo." His recent release, "Venus," is featured in the movie "Mumbai Love."

11. Taken By Cars

TBC are the first Filipino act to perform at SXSW. Known for their mixture of electro, shoegaze, and new wave, this indie band have taken a more mature approach on their recent singles like "F.A.S.T."
12. Abra

At 23, Abra is one of the youngest successful Filipino rappers. A battle rapper at first, he gained mainstream popularity with "Gayuma," wherein he was shown in the music video falling in love with a trans woman who concocted a love potion for him. He collaborates with Julie Anne San Jose in his latest single, "Dedma," a call out to the country's social injustice.
13. Elise Estrada

Canada-based Elise Estrada has had relative success in the Great White North with hit singles "Insatiable" and "Lipstick." She's now gaining ground in Southeast Asia with "U Don't Need 2 Know."
14. Mr. Bones and the Boneyard Circus

Mr. Bones and the Boneyard Circus prove there is still room for heavy metal in a music scene filled with pop and cover ballads, as their debut single "Go Go Dance on my Grave" reached the top of the local charts in 2011.
