This Short Film About A Woman Who Meets A Russian Cosmonaut On Chat Roulette Is Really Sweet

They found love in a hopeless place.

After encountering some questionable characters, she meets Yergey, a Russian cosmonaut who has been manning an orbital telescope up in space alone. And he wants to see her boobs.

Cool side note: The second creeper she meets is actually the short film's writer Oli Fenton.

In their brief interaction, Lucy learns that loneliness is but a construct, and somewhere out there, the right people, like a certain Russian cosmonaut, are looking back at her.

Director Ben Aston tells BuzzFeed via email that the short film was inspired by this video of Chris Hadfield, a now-retired Canadian astronaut, showing how tears can't fall in space.

The entire set cost a whopping £50 ($83 USD) to make, and there's an entire behind-the-scenes video for how the film came together.

Another cool side note: the actors who play Yergey and Lucy never actually met in person during the filming either. Their parts were filmed two weeks apart.

The result is a film that evokes, in the words of Ben Aston, a "nice parallel between emptiness of space and the loneliness one can experience when completely surrounded."
