8 Underrated Movies From 2021 That You Should Watch Immediately

    The movies need us.

I know we're still in the midst of a pandemic, and not everyone is comfortable or able to see a movie safely in a theater.

But that means it's even easier for great new movies to pass us by.

And this time not just because of a lack of media exposure.

So, now it's up to those who've seen the movies to spread that word of mouth.

Without further ado, here are just eight films from 2021 that deserve more attention:

    1. Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar

    Lionsgate / Via

Comedies like this just don't get made anymore. And Jamie Dornan is hilarious in this movie, which is a sentence I never thought I would say.

    Where to watch it: Hulu

    2. Encanto

Walt Disney Animation Studios / Via

Honestly, I think this is Disney's best movie since Moana.

    Where to watch it: Disney+

    3. The Green Knight

    A24 / Via

We should all witness the majesty that is Dev Patel in this movie. It's an Arthurian legend told in a very different way than it traditionally has been told in the past.

Where to watch it: Rent on Amazon Prime Video for $5.99 (or buy it for $14.99)

    4. The Harder They Fall

    Netflix / Via

A fun western romp with an all-star cast? There's no way that's not gonna be a good time.

    Where to watch it: Netflix

    5. Passing

    Netflix / Via

Rebecca Hall made this in her directorial debut? I can't wait to see what she does next because this film is stunning.

    Where to watch it: Netflix

    6. Tick, Tick...Boom!

    Netflix / Via

Andrew Garfield is phenomenal, and this is a fantastic movie musical.

    Where to watch it: Netflix

    7. West Side Story

    20th Century Studios / Via

Dare I say it's better than the 1961 movie? I do. A stellar cast with standout performances by Mike Faist, Ariana DeBose, and the queen Rita Moreno.

Where to watch it: In theaters everywhere!

    8. Zola

    A24 / Via

A movie inspired by a viral Twitter thread should not be as good as this movie is...but it is SO good.

Where to watch it: Hulu (with the Showtime add-on) or Amazon Prime Video (with the Showtime add-on)
