    To be honest, I get emotional over TV a lot. The fictional characters may not be real, but they still own my whole heart. And you know what especially makes me cry? Goodbye scenes. There's nothing that makes me reach quicker for a pack of tissues than two characters bidding farewell.

    Here are 28 goodbye moments from TV shows that are absolutely heart-wrenching:

    WARNING: Spoilers ahead, including for "Stranger Things" and "Normal People."

    1. First, on The Office, when Michael left Scranton and Jim told him he was the best boss he'd ever had.

    Jim tells Michael, "you know what? I think we should just save the goodbye for tomorrow at lunch. and then tomorrow i can tell you what a  great boss you turned out to be..best boss I ever had."

    2. On Stranger Things, when Eddie literally used his last breath to tell Dustin how much he loved him.

    Eddie, "I love you, man" Dustin, "I love you, too"

    I bet I can make you cry in just two words: Eddie. Munson.

    3. On Six Feet Under, when Claire left town in the series finale, and she envisioned everyone's future as she drove off.

    Claire: I have no idea how to do this. she hugs a guy who says, you just say goodbye and then she drives off

    There's a reason Six Feet Under is consistently ranked as having one of the best series finales of all time.

    4. On Game of Thrones, when Robb Stark and Jon Snow parted ways.

    Farewell, Snow. "And you, Stark" and then they hug

    5. On The Good Place, when Chidi gave Eleanor the most poignant speech of all time.

    Chidi tells Eleanor that death is like a wave coming up and then being returned to the ocean so Eleanor fights back tears and says, I need you to do me one last favor and say goodbye to me now and leave before I wake up

    6. On Skins, when Tony dropped Sid off at the airport to go find Cassie in New York.

    Tony: "I always loved you the best, Sid"

    The first generation of Skins kids leaving will always wreck me the most.

    7. On Normal People, when Connell and Marianne accepted that their journey together was over.

    Marianne: "we've done so much good for one another" Connell: "I'll go" Marianne: "And I'll stay. and we'll be okay"

    8. On Riverdale, when Archie decided to leave Riverdale because of Hiram, but not without saying goodbye to his father first.

    His dad: "I was your age when my father passed away. I never got to say goodbye." Archie: "This isn't goodbye dad" the dad: "You're dam right it's not"

    Obviously, Archie came back to Riverdale, but this scene hits especially hard after Luke Perry (who played Fred) died in real life.

    9. On Supernatural, when Castiel devastatingly confessed his love for Dean right before dying.

    Castiel: "I cared about the whole world because of you. You changed me, Dean" Dean: "Why does this sound like a goodbye?" Castiel: "Because it is. I love you, goodbye, dean."

    10. On The O.C., when Ryan waved goodbye to his brother, Trey, for good.

    Trey Atwood is an absolute garbage human being who never should have set foot in Newport in the first place, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't tear up watching Ryan's face here. Plus playing the song "Blue Light" by Bloc Party in the background of this scene was a perfect choice.

    11. Also on The O.C., when Ryan and Seth went off to start their own lives.

    Ryan: "I'm a lot better off than when you found me." Seth: "Yeah, me too." Then once they hug Seth says, "Ahhh, feels good in here"

    Fun fact: Seth and Ryan only hug twice throughout the entire series — in the pilot and then in the finale.

    12. On Friends, when the gang moved out of the building, then decided to go get coffee together because they couldn't bear to say goodbye just yet.

    Monica: "oh, this is harder than I thought it would be." Rachel: "Should we get some coffee" Everyone: "okay!"

    13. On One Tree Hill, when Dan was dying and he envisioned having this final conversation with Nathan at the River Court.

    Nathan: "You have a log of people you need ot say i'm sorry to but i'm not one of them no matter what you've done, you're still my father. you're my father and i love you" Dan: "Oh, Nathan, i love you too"

    And then they play ONE LAST GAME OF BASKETBALL TOGETHER. Sobs.

    14. On WandaVision, when Wanda finally had to let Vision go.

    15. On Superstore, when Mateo was heartbreakingly deported and everyone watched in tears as he left.

    Matteo: "it's ok, it's over" and then he gets taken away in a car while everyone stands outside the store and watches

    16. On Grey's Anatomy, when Cristina and Meredith did their "goodbye dance," and Cristina gave her some parting words of wisdom.

    Cristina: "You are a gifted surgeon with an extraordinary mind. don't let what he wants eclipse what you need. He is very dreamy but he is not the sun. you are"

    Cristina Yang, you wise, wise soul.

    17. On Gilmore Girls, when Rory and Paris hugged after graduating from Chilton.

    Rory: "You know, it's weird. Most of the time I hated you" Paris: "Yeah, I really hated you too" and then they hug

    This wasn't really goodbye since they ended up being roommates at Yale on the next season, but it was too good not to include.

    18. On Teen Wolf, when Stiles left for the pre-FBI program at George Washington and he and Scott shared this sweet goodbye.

    Scott: "I guess we're not the same kids running around the woods looking for a body." Stiles: No we're not. i need you. you know that. Scott: I need you too

    I know they ended up driving together, but this moment still tugs on my heartstrings. 

    19. On Parenthood, when Drew dropped Amy off at her parents' house and they shared a final kiss.

    Drew: "you know that you can call me for anything, right? I mean that. You ok?" Amy: I"m ok. then they kiss in the car and Amy says, "Bye, Drew"

    20. On Pretty Little Liars, when the group embraced each other before Aria left for her honeymoon.

    Alison: "This feels like it's the end of something" Aria, as they all hug: "I love you guys"

    21. On Shameless, when Fiona left.

    Fionna: "Take care of them for me, will you? Promise? Lipp: "promise"

    22. On The 100, when Lexa told Clarke she would always be with her.

    Clark: "I love you." Lexa: "I'll always be with you"

    23. On Degrassi: The Next Generation, when K.C. made the difficult decision to move away to protect his mom and the group shared an emotional hug in front of the school.

    24. On Parks and Recreation, when Leslie said goodbye to Ann before she moved away with Chris.

    Leslie: "Drive safe. I packed you some sandwiches and some caffeine-free iced tea. oh and there's a mixtape I made already loaded in your car. There's a lot of Sarah McLauchlan, so Chris i apologize, things are to get emotional"

    Luckily, this isn't the last of Ann. However, it's still such an emotional episode that I felt it deserved a spot on the list.

    25. On The Vampire Diaries, when Elena begged Damon not to leave, and he told her she was the greatest thing that had ever happened to him.

    Elena: "Please don't leave" Damon" I have to baby. You are by far the greatest thing that ever happened to me in my 173 years on this earth. the fact that i get to die knowing that i was loved by you is the epitome of a fulfilled life"

    26. On 13 Reasons Why, when Clay read Justin's essay after he died and Justin's ghost came to say goodbye to him.

    Clay reading the words: "Even though I've never had a proper family I know what it feels like to have one. Because Clay gave it to me. He's my brother. He's my positive influence."

    27. On Elite, when Guzmán and Ander left to go backpacking and Omar broke down sobbing as they drove away.

    Guzman: "Well, everyone. I'm sure gonna miss you."

    Elite did Omander so incredibly dirty. Honorable mention: Guzmán and Samuel saying goodbye.

    28. And finally, on Boy Meets World, when Mr. Feeny dismissed the class one last time.

    Feeny to an empty classroom: "I love you all. Class dismissed."
