28 Popular TV Couples People Actually Can't Stand

"I think if you have to try THAT many times, you're just wrong for each other."

We asked the BuzzFeed Community what popular TV couples they absolutely can't stand, and they did not hold back. Here are some of their responses:

    1. Derek and Meredith, Grey's Anatomy

    ABC

"They were so dysfunctional, and nothing about their relationship was healthy. They both cheated on the other SEVERAL times and never put the other person first. They brought out the worst in each other, and their relationship ruined the show for me."

    2. Ezra and Aria, Pretty Little Liars

"It was so disgusting and inappropriate because he was her high school English teacher. It's not OK. It never will be OK. And it's illegal."

    3. Blaine and Kurt, Glee

    Fox

"Honestly, they were toxic from the beginning. They're too different, and I couldn't believe the show kept pulling them apart and pushing them back together the way it did. I think the fact that Sue Sylvester of all people shipped them as hard as she did says something about their relationship..."

    k47f255e17

    4. Mulder and Scully, The X-Files

    Fox

"I love their platonic relationship, but I absolutely HATE that it got romantic. It's the first time I can remember seeing two unrelated people of the opposite sex who clearly loved each other without having romantic feelings for each other."

    amyl54

    5. Lorelai and Luke, Gilmore Girls

    The WB

"I know they’re end-all, be-all, but none of her romantic partners were ever really that intriguing, and Luke’s entire character arc took a nosedive once they finally got together. They were much better just as friends."

    reallylovely

    6. Robin and Ted, How I Met Your Mother

    NBC

"To this day, I still hate that they ended up together. The mother was such a wonderful character, and for them to kill her off like that just so Ted and Robin could wind up together?! All of the problems that broke them up in the first place never went away. I wouldn't even have been so bothered by Robin and Barney's breakup if the showrunners hadn't pulled THAT shit."

    sheistheslayer

    7. Jake and Amy, Brooklyn Nine-Nine

    NBC

"I’m not sure what exactly it is, but I can’t see or feel their chemistry. Their love just isn't believable to me."

    tiffcady96

    8. Lucas and Peyton, One Tree Hill

    The WB

"In Season 1 they had some semblance of chemistry between them, but it took them so long to get together that I was bored and annoyed with both of them by the time it finally happened. Peyton and Jake should have been endgame, and Lucas didn't deserve to be with anyone, really."

    michelleab09

    9. Piper and Alex, Orange Is the New Black

    Netflix

"They were both horrible, self-absorbed characters. Their relationship was built on a foundation of lies, deception, and manipulation, but we were supposed to see them as some sort of star couple."

    lexieb45c54cc52

    10. Blair and Chuck, Gossip Girl

    The CW

"I get so angry when people glorify their relationship. They were the WORST to each other, and even separately they kind of sucked. Chuck literally sold Blair for a hotel?! No amount of stupid one-liners could erase how awful he was."

    alysaa2

    11. Tristan and Miles, Degrassi

    Netflix

"Tristan was so biphobic, and I’m not sure why the writers thought it was a good idea for him and Miles to be a thing. Miles deserved way better, honestly. Their relationship didn’t help Miles as a character, and it didn’t help Tristan, either."

    bishopab

    12. Haley and Dylan, Modern Family

    ABC

"I really hate that Haley ended up with Dylan. She had so many good guys to choose from (a cute British professor, ffs!) and chose the ditz?!"

    Melrose_Lorax86

    13. Betty and Jughead, Riverdale

    The CW

"They are so incredibly toxic for each other. Betty constantly gets them both into trouble with her snooping, and Jughead got her into a gang world he didn’t even want to be a part of himself in Season 1. They do nothing but put each other in dangerous situations and shouldn't be together at all."

    campbells4dbe23c87

    14. Rachel and Ross, Friends

    NBC

"I'm a huge Friends fan, but their relationship was total trash. It sucked when they were together, and when they finally broke up, they still always pined for each other and were jealous whenever the other got involved with someone else. If they allegedly loved each other so much, why not just get back together instead of moping and interfering in each other’s other relationships?"

    JazzyCatsinDisneyland

    15. Elena and Damon, The Vampire Diaries

    The CW

"They're the most toxic ship I've ever seen. Damon was terrible and abusive to Elena, and he never let her make her own choices."

    natalie1402

    16. Jules and Rue, Euphoria

    HBO

"Jules knew Rue was in love with her and played with her feelings constantly. Jules led her on, then she went and made out with another girl, told Rue she loved both of them, and agreed to run away with Rue even though she knew it would’ve been bad for Rue's sobriety."

    Eli_567

    17. Rory and Jess, Gilmore Girls

    The WB

"I honestly think the only reason people like Jess is because of Milo Ventimiglia. But Jess treated Rory terribly when they started dating, and he even left her without saying goodbye."

    misskatie

    18. Schmidt and Cece, New Girl

    Fox

"Schmidt went out of his way to destroy every relationship Cece was in, and when she finally agreed to go out with him, he cheated on her. He became obsessed with her and stalked her. Then, after all that crap, she still took him back and married him!"

    Hollybruneau

    19. Daenerys and Jon, Game of Thrones

    HBO

"They had absolutely zero chemistry, all of their interactions felt forced, and Daenerys was controlling and manipulative. The ending [SPOILER] didn't seem tragic at all — it was like Jon just stabbed some woman he barely tolerated, not someone he was madly in love with."

    dukylonrose

    20. Seth and Summer, The O.C.

    Fox

"Everyone thought they were so cute, but Seth was so jealous and needy. Summer was a queen who deserved so much better."

    mayaAbeysekera

    21. Rebecca and Greg, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend

    The CW

"Their relationship was one of the worst parts of Season 1. Rebecca was obsessed with his best friend, and Greg didn’t even care."

    kupkakekitten22

    22. Archie and Veronica, Riverdale

    The CW

"I can’t stand them. All they ever do is hook up, and Veronica talks to him in an almost belittling way."

    taylorgrace926

    23. Paige and Emily, Pretty Little Liars

    Freeform

"Paige literally tried to drown Emily...and then they started dating?! Hell no. I'm so glad they didn't stay together."

    j45d7514fa

    24. Stiles and Lydia, Teen Wolf

    MTV

"Spark between them? Not found. 'Nerdy boy ending up with the popular girl' storyline? Overplayed and stale. Chemistry between them? Nonexistent. Their relationship bored me to absolute tears."

    sarahn47f402432

    25. Buffy and Spike, Buffy the Vampire Slayer

    The WB

"This relationship was just all-around gross. The show made it seem OK because she's a slayer and he's a vampire, but it just screamed toxic and abusive to me."

    SprinkledDonut

    26. Elliot and J.D., Scrubs

    NBC

"Both characters had so many issues, and they always took their problems out on each other. I think if you have to try THAT many times, you're just wrong for each other."

    cinsan

    27. Cristina and Owen, Grey's Anatomy

    ABC

"Owen KNEW Cristina didn’t want kids but then hated her for standing by that choice when faced with an accidental pregnancy. Oh, and let’s not forget he cheated on her."

    biancab4fef94982

    28. And Oliver and Felicity, Arrow

    The CW

"Their relationship totally took over the show and it became a soap opera. The writers were catering to 'Olicity' fans so badly that I stopped watching after Season 3."
