We recently asked the BuzzFeed Community to tell us the worst ways they've ever been dumped. Here are some of the wildest stories:
1."He had our mutual friend break up with me over text on Easter."
2."I got a text from my friend while at school saying, 'Did you break up?!' I was like, '...no?' And then she told me to check Facebook, and he had changed his status! The next day, he was in a new relationship."
3."He called me his 'buddy' after two-and-a-half years of dating...on my birthday."
4."My girlfriend broke up with me over text after I had just spent four days with her for Valentine’s Day. An hour before I had a job interview. Which she knew about."
5."This guy dumped me at a basketball game on Valentine’s Day to go hit on another girl. He also got a girl pregnant while we were dating."
6."My ex called me the night before she was supposed to come visit for the week and told me she had never been attracted to me and wanted to break up. Then she asked if she could still come visit."
7."My first boyfriend broke up with me in front of my mom. He sat both of us on the couch and dumped me, then left. Then I found out two days later that he gave me mono."
8."He broke up with me in a note and had a mutual friend deliver it. He titled it 'The Break Up Letter,' and in it he explained that he liked me, but he didn't think he could see a future with me. He told me if I truly wanted to understand, I should listen to 'Let it Burn' by Usher."
9."He never actually broke up with me...he just moved away and let me connect the dots."
10."I got dumped over e-mail after three years of dating. We were living together...?"
11."I got dumped on the phone when I was 18 after I’d just gotten out of the operating room having a C-section to deliver our daughter."
12."It was eighth grade and we were playing hide-and-seek in the dark with a group of friends. My boyfriend was 'it.' When we all climbed out of our spots and went to turn the lights on, there was a post-it note on the light switch breaking up with me. To make matters worse, we were at HIS HOUSE and he awkwardly avoided me until my mom came to get me."
13."He broke up with me an hour away from home in a Dairy Queen parking lot. He ordered a burger and ate it as we sat in the parking lot in the car, while I bawled. Then he asked for road head on the way home."
14."He waited to dump me until we were literally in the middle of having sex. He told me he had been dating another girl, then asked if we should finish having sex."
15."In fifth grade, circa 1998, my boyfriend of three months came up to me while I was at the water fountain and said, 'You do know we're not together anymore, right?' I quickly responded, 'Pshh, yeah!'"
16."One day, I texted my girlfriend to say good morning. On iPhones when you send a text, you see delivered. Well, that never showed...because she had blocked me."
17."I was dumped at the beginning of a 10-hour plane ride, and a 20-hour travel day, which we had to spend together."
18."My then-boyfriend called my high school (I was 15 and we went to different schools), spoke to a guidance counselor, and had them relay the message that he didn't want to be with me anymore."
19."In high school, a guy broke up with me in a Myspace bulletin post. Everyone on his friends list saw it, and they all knew before I did! Rude AF."
20."We had been going out for about a month when he called to tell me that dating me was cutting into his ultimate frisbee time. I assume he and his frisbee are very happy together."
21."I was dumped through a text while I was at the movies watching Avengers: Endgame. My daughter thought I was weeping because (spoiler alert) Iron Man died."
