Don’t let the sugary synths fool you, this song is about going to the club to hook-up with some dude who isn’t your boyfriend. Carly Rae Jepsen, unrepentant cheater, sings about how she can’t get enough of a bad boy with a girlfriend and goes out night after night to make-out with him on the dance-floor.

2. John Legend, "She Don't Have To Know"

Don’t worry, "She Don't Have To Know" pre-dates John Legend’s relationship with Chrissy Teigen by two years. That said, it's a doozy. John begs his lover to keep their affair secret, insisting that he doesn’t want to hurt her. A claim that’s undermined just a bit by his refusal to end things with Lady #2. “I know it’s supposed to be the last time for you and I,” he tells her, “But let's not end this way, wait another day.”

3. Amy Winehouse, "You Know I'm No Good"

To be fair to Amy Winehouse, she does feel bad about her inability to stay faithful on “You Know I’m No Good” — she just doesn’t think there’s anything to do about it. Leopards can’t change their spots, she seems to say, so why bother trying?

4. LeAnn Rimes, “Borrowed”

LeAnn Rimes’ entire 2013 album Spitfire is about starting a relationship with actor Eddie Cibrian while they were both still married. While the record alternates between being apologetic and unrepentant, the stand-out track, “Borrowed,” manages to be a little bit of both. “So I don’t want to give you back,” the country star sings over delicate guitar, “but you’re borrowed, only borrowed.”

5. Trey Songz, “Last Time”

On “Last Time,” Trey Songz tells his lover that this time is the last time he cheats on his girlfriend. This time? It’s the last time. He promises. He just needs it one last time. “Yup, I said the last time,” he sings, “Girl, this is the last time.” Methinks Trey doth protest too much.

6. Shaggy, "It Wasn't Me"

What do you do when your girlfriend catches you butt-naked, banging someone else on the bathroom floor? According to Shaggy, you insist “it wasn’t me.” That’s his entire, shameless strategy for handling confrontations over infidelity, tell her “it wasn’t me” and move on.

7. Xscape, “My Little Secret”

Instead of pretending their just caught up in a star-crossed love affair, the ladies of Xscape own up to being turned on by the secrecy of cheating on “My Little Secret.” They aren’t sleeping with an attached man because they’re in love. They’re doing it because it’s hot.

8. Gram Parsons, “We’ll Sweep The Ashes Out In The Morning”

Gram Parsons and Emmylou Harris can see regret on the horizon on "We'll Sweep The Ashes Out In The Morning," but the singers give into an ill-fated affair anyway.

9. The Smiths, “Stop Me If You Think You’ve Heard This One Before”

Morrissey’s significant other suspects he’s having an affair and the singer can’t be bothered to come up with a convincing lie. He runs through a series of transparent excuses, asking his partner to “stop me if you’ve heard this one before.”

10. Sunny Sweeney, “Amy”

Asking for forgiveness and being sorry are two very different things, as Sunny Sweeney’s song “Amy” makes clear. “Amy, please let me explain,” she sings, “I’m only half of what's causin' all your pain.” She goes on to rationalize her decision to sleep with a married man by suggesting the affair was really Amy’s fault: “he needed love he said he never got from you,” she wails. The terrible excuses just continue from there.

11. SWV, "You're The One"

Girl meets boy. Girl thinks boy is The One. Only problem? He’s somebody else’s guy. This should be the end of it, but for ’90s girl group SWV it’s just the beginning. On “You’re The One” the ladies tell the objects of their affection that they’re “willing to do anything to get in your pants.” Even if that means being the chick on the side.

12. Meshell Ndegeocello, “If That’s Your Boyfriend (He Wasn’t Last Night)”

The title of Meshell Ndegeocello’s “If That’s Your Boyfriend (He Wasn’t Last Nigt)” really says it all. The singer-songwriter isn’t just unapologetic, she’s aggressively so. “Boyfriend, boyfriend,” she taunts like a schoolyard bully, “yes, I had your boyfriend.” This is a sexy, bass-heavy song for people on their very worst behavior.

13. Disclosure and Lorde, “Magnets”

The song is a warm, affectionate ode to infidelity. The singer is unrepentant about loving his mistress above everyone else, even when he has a wife and two children at home. Even when he knows they need him "just as much."

17. Robyn, “Call Your Girlfriend”

To her credit, Robyn doesn’t want to mess around with an attached dude indefinitely. On “Call Your Girlfriend” she makes it clear that if he wants to stay with her, he needs to break it off with his significant other. While the pop star is trying to set things right, she can’t help but boast a little while she explains what needs to be done. “Don't you tell her how I give you something that you never even knew you missed," she sings. "Don't you even try and explain how it's so different when we kiss.”

Eventually it's revealed that the women are engaged in a tragic little love triangle. There are no apologies, just one friend assuring the other that “your husband will never leave you. 19. Melanie Martinez, “Pacify Her”

On “Pacify Her,” Melanie Martinez’s Cry Baby alter-ego doesn’t feel anything but contempt for her lover’s girlfriend. She’s just a “basic bitch” to the singer. A whiny problem that needs to be dealt with. “Pacify her,” Cry Baby commands, “she’s getting on my nerves.”
