Remember when Macklemore was just a goofball dude from Seattle rapping about buying broken keyboards from his local thrift shop?

The year was 2012. Ben Haggerty hadn't won any Grammys or declared himself a spokesperson for the LGBT community. It was a simpler time.

If you miss that version of the rapper, you're in luck — Macklemore's latest single, "Downtown," is a tribute to mopeds with a delightfully dopey video to match.

It starts with Macklemore stopping by his local moped store to make an ill-advised purchase.

Knowing nothing about mopeds doesn't stop the rapper from buying one, however. He gets a "hell of a deal" and then heads downtown.

Everyone in his crew also has a moped because this is a song about mopeds.

There is also a glorious motorcycle chariot.

It doesn't need an explanation and isn't given one.

Damn, that's a cold-ass honky.

Eventually, Macklemore's neighbors get fed up with his antics.

But he's only going 38 MPH, so he'd kindly appreciate it if his neighbors chilled the fuck out.

He then pledges his love in the only way he knows how.

The whole thing is goofy as hell.
