The Actor Who Plays Bryce On "13 Reasons Why" Read A Letter From A Sexual Assault Survivor

"Thank you for saving my life."

Fans of 13 Reasons Why know that Bryce is a horrific and universally despised character. On the show, he's a bully, a liar, and a sexual predator.

The actor who plays Bryce, Justin Prentice, is nothing like his onscreen character. But Bryce, and the show, have been the center of some debate after the first season tackled such heavy subject matter and was marketed mainly to teens.

Ahead of the second season, Netflix commissioned a study from Northwestern University that examines how young people and adults reacted to the show. And today they released an exclusive video of Prentice reading a letter from a fan of 13 Reasons Why who's a sexual assault survivor.

In the video, Prentice addresses the heat he's taken for portraying Bryce. "I think, at the end of the day, people just wanna troll," he shrugs.

He then reads a letter from a fan who's a survivor of sexual abuse and has survived multiple suicide attempts.

The fan thanks Prentice and the rest of the cast of 13 Reasons Why, writing, "You portray a person I'm terrified of, but you're showing someone that needs to be put out there and talked about."

Prentice gets very emotional. "These are heroes. These are true people. These are people you should look up to and aspire to be like," he says.
