Coming out is a different experience for everyone in the LGBTQ community.
Sometimes you come out as queer earlier in life, and sometimes you come out when you're a bit older.
And if you're someone who came out as an adult, we want to hear your story.
Maybe you were always afraid to come out as a lesbian to your family because they're very traditional people. But when you told them in your thirties that you were dating a woman, they still accepted you for who you are, and you felt like you had nothing to hide anymore.
Or perhaps, just like on Grace and Frankie, you realized well into your sixties that you were attracted to men after being married to a woman for most of your life. When you told your kids about your new boyfriend, you felt as if a huge weight had been lifted off your shoulders, and you could finally be yourself.
Or maybe you came out as LGBTQ to your therapist in your forties because they created a safe environment for you to express your true identity. And maybe you felt so happy afterward that it inspired you to come out to someone in your personal life, too.
Discovering who you are is a beautiful experience, so let's celebrate it! If you came out as an adult, share your story with us below. It might be featured in an upcoming BuzzFeed Community post! 🌈
