1. e.l.f. Cosmetic's Foundation Adjuster transforms your liquid foundation into a full-coverage, mattifying formula to give you a flawless shine-free finish that actually lasts.

elfcosmetics.com

How to use: Mix in a pearl size amount of the powder into your usual foundation using the provided scoop. Make sure you do it on your hand and then apply, rather than adding the powder into the foundation bottle.

Promising review: "I tried it with Too Faced Born This Way, IT CC Cream, and UD Naked Skin. It mattified every one of them and kept my skin beautiful all day! The foundations didn’t transfer and my skin was so soft....ALL DAY. This stuff is a definite game changer and seriously an almost exact dupe for the Urban Decay Velvetizer....for $8!!!!! I think I’m going to stock up on back ups before people realize it. LOL." —Debi1208

Get it from e.l.f. for $8, and the palette that straps to the back of your hand for easy mixing for $2.

2. Estée Lauder's Double Wear Foundation is the holy grail of long-lasting makeup and totally worth the splurge. It's waterproof so it can survive hot and humid weather up to 24 hours (!!!).

Promising review: "This product does EVERYTHING it claims to do! I love that it does not oxidize, stays the same color from beginning to end of the day. Most importantly, it stays ON from the beginning to end of the day. It is medium to full coverage, when applied with medium coverage, it does not feel heavy or uncomfortable. I usually don't even have to wear any kind of powder over it because the foundation is enough for me, but I do use a setting spray. I highly recommend this product if you're looking for a foundation that will give you full coverage/ lasts a long time/ does not oxidize." —MissStephSanGet it from Sephora or Nordstrom for $42 (available in 42 shades).

3. And if you're looking to save a penny but still want a product that won't fade after five seconds in the dead of summer, Neutrogena's Nourishing Long Wear Foundation comes in at only $11 and is a miracle worker for sensitive skin. There aren't a lot of colors, but for the price you can easily mix and match to get a shade that's perfect for you.

BuzzFeeder's Sarah MacMillan has been using this for years and has yet to find something she loves as much."I don't remember when I started using Neutrogena's Long Wear Foundation, but over the years I've tried a lot of different brands, only to throw out barely used bottles of super-expensive boutiquey makeup that just felt uncomfortable on my face. I have eczema (read: patchy redness and dry, sensitive skin), so when I find something that works, I'm like, thank freaking god. For being a long-wear liquid makeup, this stuff feels pretty light. It's nonirritating and doesn't feel dry (or oily, for that matter). Lucky for me, this is drugstore stuff that doesn't break the bank, so if I tan in the summer, buying more shades or mixing a few different ones is no problemo. It also has SPF 20, hides redness really well, and per the name, actually does last all day. Which is great, because I'm too lazy for touch-ups. :) —Sarah MacMillanRead her full review (it's #2!).Get it from Amazon for $11.19+ or Walmart for $13.97 or Neutrogena for $15.99 (available in eight shades), and get their long-wear eyeshadows from Amazon for $12.32+ (available in six palettes).

4. Anastasia Beverly Hills' Liquid Lipstick is super pigmented and I swear lasts even longer when e.l.f.'s Matte Lip in a similar shade is added on top!

Kayla Suazo / BuzzFeed

This is my red lipstick hack that somehow lasts me all day with minimal touchups involved. I used to be scared to rock a red lip because I didn't want to deal with the maintenance of it, but I can honestly go out on the town without worrying about fading or that weird cracking that can occur with liquid mattes. When I do feel my lips drying out (which also happens to me when I wear mattes), I add the e.l.f. lipstick in a similar color on top to hydrate and restore some color. It works like a charm! (BTW, I am wearing Anastasia's Safarina and e.l.f.'s Cranberry shades in the photos above).

Get the Anastasia Liquid Lip from Sephora or Ulta for $20 (available in 41 shades), and the e.l.f. Matte Lip from e.l.f. or Ulta for $3 (available in 14 shades).

5. Lancôme's Cils Booster Mascara Base enhances lashes, prevents them from clumping and flaking, and keeps your eyes looking full and luscious 'til the sun sets.

Psst, I can vouch for this product and say it's a lifesaver! It's a staple in my makeup bag.How to use: Apply a coat of the booster (don't let it dry!) and then immediately add your mascara on top. Promising review: "I have really oily eyes and in the past, my mascara would wear off very quickly (within a couple of hours) leaving me with raccoon eyes. Using this helps the mascara stay on all day. This works with any brand mascara (i.e. you don't have to use Lancome mascaras)." —stacyamacGet it from Sephora or Nordstrom for $25.50.

6. NYX's cult-favorite Setting Spray keeps the shine away and locks in your makeup so you can *finally* stop worrying about touchups throughout the day.

Flame Princess / amazon.com

How to use: Spray on after makeup application as a final step in your routine. YouTube blogger Nikkia Joy says you can even use the spray before you apply foundation on the days when you really need your makeup to stay put. Watch her video to learn more.

Promising review: "I'm halfway decent at my makeup. Well, I'm only as decent as long as my makeup lasts. I would apply makeup in the morning but my face would become more and more oily as the day went on. This meant my makeup started to glisten (not in a good way) and pool up in spots looking all blotchy. I could never make it even half a day without my makeup melting off. That was until I decided to try this product. With just a few sprays my makeup stays exactly as it was applied and my face doesn't even get oily anymore. I haven't tested it but I'm pretty sure I could sleep in my makeup and wake up with it looking just as good. I definitely recommend this finishing spray and will be buying again when I'm out. (You'll see a day and night comparison in my photos)." —Flame Princess

7. And for super oily-skin moments (hello humid summer and gym sessions), Volition Beauty's Oil-Control Mattifying Mist rids your skin of unwanted shine and can be used throughout the day to give your makeup a refresh.

How to use: Hold the bottle about 12 inches away from your face and spray a light layer on while your eyes are closed. Promising review: "So normally when I go to the gym, I turn into a greasy onion. I've been looking for something to help control all the oil. When my friend recommended this to me, I was skeptical, so she let me use some of hers before we went to the gym. The bottle was nice, the mist was light and didn't feel like there was anything on my face...and to my surprise I was not a greasy onion at the gym that day!! After that I brought my own and I love it. I use it daily, my skin has gotten softer, AND I no longer have to worry about being a greasy onion." —yaymakeup92Get it from Sephora for $29.

8. Glossier's Boy Brow comes in four colors and shapes, fluffs, and fills in eyebrows for an effortless look that won't flake.

glossier.com

Promising review: "I was born with very strange eyebrows. They were asymmetrical with dips and curves in them. I have been insecure about them my entire life (please note I am 16 years old). I've tried every brow filler, pomade, gel, and powder known to man when finally I decided to give this a try. I was new to the Glossier world and this was the first product I bought. When I put it on the first time, I almost cried. With just a few swipes, my eyebrows were shaped beautifully and darkened to perfection. They looked natural and didn't feel heavy or sticky at all. I went to school and everyone was asking me if I got my brows done. It's been a year and I have repurchased it countless times. My only complaint is the bottle is so small! I would buy a huge bottle if I could. Thank you Glossier for saving my brows!!" —cass

9. Kat Von D's Tattoo Liquid Liner has a fine-tip brush that makes application super easy. It's also made with magic (I am sure of it) because it stays on all day without a single smudge.

sephora.com

Read my full review of Kat Von D's Ink Liner (similar to the Tattoo liner, just a different brush tip).

Promising review: "For years I have struggled to find a great liquid liner to help me master a clean, cat eye or 'wing' in a flash and have FINALLY found 'the one'!! Ran it through the mill and tested its wearability at an outdoor (summer) wedding. Tears, (insanely) high humidity, and sweat did not make this liner budge until I was ready to wash it off. Beautiful, clean, and easy application that won't disappoint, with long-lasting, long-standing wear, and versatility of fine or fuller lines depending on how much or how little pressure you apply while putting it on." —Malleycat1020

10. Coty's Airspun Loose Face Powder sets your makeup so your skin looks smooth and photo-ready (you never know when the 'Gram will strike!), and can also double as a foundation if you tend to have oilier skin during the day.

amazon.com, andrea / amazon.com

How to use: To highlight: Apply loose powder with a damp sponge and let it sit (or bake as the beauty masters say) 5-10 minutes then sweep away excess with a powder brush. To set makeup: Using a powder brush, put a light coat on your skin after foundation and contouring.

Promising review: "It's perfect!!! It comes with so much product, and the puff it comes with is pretty handy. The application is smooth and is great for baking. My makeup came out flawless. I set my makeup with this and worked out right after. THERE WAS NO SEPARATION, NO CREASING. This powder blessed me. GOD BLESS." —andrea

Get it from Amazon for $5.97 (available in six shades, including translucent).

11. Supergoop!'s Unseen Sunscreen offers you broad spectrum SPF 40 protection *while* preventing your makeup from fading or smudging. Basically, this is a weightless heaven-sent formula, and now we can all protect 👏 our 👏 skin 👏 while still looking fierce as hell.

How to use: Massage onto your skin after you've washed, toned, and moisturized your face, and before you apply your makeup. Promising review: "This is a perfect product. Perfect amount of SPF, and the fact that it’s cruelty-free makes it absolutely perfect." —vas27Get it from Sephora or Nordstrom for $32.

13. Milani's Eyeshadow Primer prevents dreadful clumping and eyelid creases so your smokey eye stays as vibrant as when you first put it on.

instagram.com, Kayla Suazo / BuzzFeed

How to use: Using your finger rub a small amount over your eyelid and let it dry, then apply your eyeshadow as usual.

Ok, here's another one of my go-to products that I *truly* cannot live without. This lovely thing keeps my eyeshadow from turning into nasty goop on my eyelid crease from sunrise to sunset (and probably until the next sunrise — it's THAT good). I've actually fallen asleep with my makeup on before (yes, I know it's bad, blame the margs), and I've woken up with my makeup looking fine. I don't know how, but this stuff works.

How to use: Simply massage a small amount on your face to create a base for foundation. Promising review: "I have extremely oily skin and nothing would keep my makeup on! Honestly, Rhianna needs to chill with all of her amazing products because my weak heart and bank account cannot afford anymore of this!

Promising review: "I don't usually blot when I wear makeup, I always thought it was an unnecessary step that I am too lazy to do. But no matter how matte my foundation usually is, my oily face occasionally shines through if I wear makeup for over five hours. So I decided to invest in this, suspecting it would last me a long time since I won't be using it constantly. And I am definitely going to be buying this again when I run out. Not only is it amazing at mattifying me instantly, but it sets my makeup without leaving a white cast over my face. I have fairly light skin, but whenever I use 'true white translucent' powders they make me look like I have spread egg-whites on my face, this one does not. I will try it on my friends with darker skin as well to see if it also works for them, but from what I've seen from YouTubers I trust, it does." —Lizofthefirst

Get it from Sephora for $32 and the portable touchup brush for $24.

16. Clinique's Workout 24-Hour Mascara is *literally* made to resist sweat and humidity so you can live your dang life and not have to wonder how much of your eye makeup is left after a workout.

Promising review: "I never write reviews, but I felt compelled to write a review about this mascara because it is so amazing!!! It will not smudge or smear under your eyes during the day like other products. I’ve been looking for years for a product that will stay on my lashes all day without coming off. I wear this product over Clinique’s Lash Building Primer, and it still does not smudge a bit. It’s amazing. Thank you Clinique!!" —SimsGet it from Clinique for $20.

17. Glossier's Cloud Paint blush gives you texture-free, natural-looking color in your cheeks that won't crease or fade. The four available colors are designed to blend together to create a shade that works just for you.

glossier.sjv.io

How to use: Apply with your fingertips with a tiny dot of the gel-cream and blend into your skin.

Promising review: "Cloud Paint is everything you could ever want from a blush. It's undetectable on the skin (texture-wise) and yet the color is evident. Yes, the tubes are small, but that only makes them more convenient for travel as you only need the smallest amount with each use — they last for ages! The consistency is ridiculously easy to apply and blend on the face (I tend to squeeze a tiny dot onto my finger, rub between my fingertips slightly, and then tap onto cheeks). The finish is matte so the color stays put all day, but somehow, you're still left with a gorgeous glow and so works for both matte and dewy looks. Perfect for the natural and 'no-makeup' look that I usually go for. Although I'm too lazy to most days, mixing the shades creates some beautiful colors with endless possibilities! It's so easy to sheer out or build the color as needed. My ultimate multi-tasker!" —Rose

18. Stila's Waterproof Smudge Sticks take pencil eyeliner to a whole new level with their variety of colors (in shimmers and mattes) and incredible staying power.

How to use: These can be used as a classic pencil, or smudged and blended using your finger or brush. Promising review: "I was looking for a black eyeliner that would stay put when I line my inner rims. Well, this one is it!! It is worth every penny! I tried it on the evening I bought it, and decided to sleep in it...it was still there the next morning with only a tiny smudge!!! It was even still partially on my inner rims!!! And, to top it all off, it removed very easily with remover but wouldn't budge with just soap and water. While I don't think there is any eyeliner that will last all day on your inner rims, this one — by far — outlasts all of others I have tried. I will DEFINITELY buy again and recommend to all of my friends!!!!!" —allieverwantedGet it from Sephora (available in 16 colors), Ulta (available in 14 shades), or Stila (available in 17 colors) for $22.

19. Tarte's Shape Tape Concealer is oil-absorbing, long-lasting, crease-resistant, mattifying, buildable...I could go on because this product is EVERYTHING and will probably become your makeup bag's favorite (it's definitely one of mine!).

pntrac.com

Surpise! It's me again here to tell you that this is another holy grail item you need in your life. I've tried other concealers and nothing compares to this, especially in the summer. I also have Tarte's Aquacealer — which I do love — but it doesn't hold up in NYC heat and humidity like the Shape Tape does.

Promising review: "The hype around this product is actually a fact. When it's used a small amount, it doesn't crease on my under eye area. It is extremely full coverage although can look natural with small amount of application. Works best with beauty blender in my experience. It lasts for hours." —E. Wisdom

20. Tatcha's Luminous Dewy Skin Mist moisturizes and refreshes your face making it a wonder product for dry skin. It can be used before makeup application for extra hydration, or after and throughout the day to give a dewy, glowing finish.

How to use: Spray two or three spritzes about six inches away from your face. Use it before makeup as a moisturizer, or after as a setting spray, and then keep it handy for rehydrating touchups during the day.Promising review: "I have EXTREMELY dry skin. No amount of moisturizers or dewy foundations and primers make my skin look good. I bought this because of Kathleenlights and I absolutely love it. I spray it on before I apply my makeup and it makes my skin look so healthy and dewy. I will say that it does take quite a bit of product to get any kind of result, but I don't mind. 21. And finally, Clean & Clear's Oil Absorbing Wipes makes quick fixes and touchups super easy whether you're at work, on a boat, in the middle of the desert, on a horse — IDK, basically anywhere and everywhere.

instagram.com, instagram.com

How to use: Blot the sheet on oily areas to remove shine and leave your skin matte. They are small enough to stick in your bag so you always have them on you!

Promising review: "I know oil. Not only was I reared in the oil patch in Texas, but I was the acne poster child with skin that produced quantities of oil to make the petroleum barons envious. Even now as a senior citizen, my skin is way oilier than it needs to be — although the nice bonus is that it's a good wrinkle preventer — so even after make-up goes on nicely, it's not long before an oily sheen shows up. These low-cost, easy-to-pack-in-a-pocket, oil-absorbing sheets do exactly what they claim. With a few swipes, my make-up looks matte again and the shine & sheen are gone. Voila! Fab stuff." —Liz Zelandais
