The Tanzie Project The Tanzie Project / Via Facebook: thetanzieproject The Tanzie Project was founded by a US veteran after she was deployed to Bosnia, and saw first-hand the terrible stray dog situation there. She brought back her own stray dog and named her Tanzie. She couldn't forget about the faces she left behind in Bosnia, so she decided to create an animal welfare nonprofit to bring awareness to and support stray dogs in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and named it after her own Bosnian rescue pup, Tanzie. TTP doesn't have a physical shelter itself, but supports shelters in Bosnia, as well as relies on networking with other shelters across the U.S. and Europe to foster these Bosnian street dogs until they can be rehomed. We know there are issues in the US with overcrowded shelters and abuse, and we don't want to take away from the serious needs here. However, there is no official animal welfare organization in Bosnia, and so all these dogs have to help them are normal citizens who barely have enough money to buy food for themselves, let alone for stray dogs. Since it started, TTP has raised nearly $25K to fund vaccinations, food, shelter repairs, and transports across Europe and the US, and rehomed 45 dogs to Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands, and the US. TTP had its first transatlantic transport earlier this month, where 5 Bosnian strays had their dream trip to forever homes in the USA. TTP is a small organization and does a traditional crowdfunding or auction-type fundraising events to achieve its goals, but having a large grant or donation and would allow them to rehome and vaccinate so many more dogs, and help build better shelters in Bosnia. If you would like to help this wonderful cause, please follow TTP on Facebook to donate to their latest rescues. The Tanzie Project needs help giving hope to the 10,000 street dogs roaming the streets of Sarajevo, and thousands more across the entire country. The attached is a picture from TTP's transport on Aug. 6, where our "Fab 5" Bosnian strays arrived at Dulles International Airport - Tanzie, the first Bosnian rescue, is the dog on the bottom left - all the others are the Fab 5 rescues!
