    1. Wake up feeling more rested with an alarm app that tracks your sleep cycle.

You set an alarm for the time you need to be awake, and Sleep Cycle Alarm Clock will track your movements and find the best time to wake you up in the 30 minutes leading up to your alarm. It'll wake you during the lightest phase of your snooze, so you'll get up feeling way less groggy.

    7. Try a seven-minute workout before you head to the office, to keep you feeling energized throughout the day.

I can only work out in the morning. I'm just too tired by the end of the day. That means I often only have time to exercise on weekends, because I'm sorry, I'm not waking up an hour earlier to go to the gym before work. That's just not me. Enter the seven-minute workout app (there are several, but I personally love Seven).

Yes, it literally takes seven minutes. Maybe seven minutes and 30 seconds. The workout consists of 12 moves for 30 seconds each, with 10-second breaks in between. I was skeptical that it would be a real workout, but it is. My heart rate gets up and I feel that post-exercise rush afterwards, just like I would after my usual 30 minutes on the elliptical. Plus, if you're willing to pay for the premium plan, you can choose more specific goals and focuses for your workout.

Get the Seven app for free for iOS devices here and for Android here. Premium plan starts at $6.67/month. Or, try the New York Times' version of the seven-minute workout here.

Promising review: "I genuinely do not know how I went this long without this notebook. It just makes sense to integrate technology and the process of writing on a physical page. I seriously think companies should buy these for their employees; it's great for meetings when you don't want to look distracted by your phone or laptop but still want to be taking notes and engaged. I use it for writing to-do lists and sending them to my phone so I don't forget anything and for sending idea lists to my team. It has also become a staple in my long-distance relationship. Neither of us can be on our phones the whole day texting each other about everything. Instead, I write down important things throughout the day and have it sent to his email and mine, so we have things to talk about." β€”ChelsF

It lets you compare the time it would take you to walk, bike, drive, or take public transportation to your destination, sends you push notifications when you're close to your stop, and will even tell you how many calories you'll burn (and the food equivalent) when you walk. For example, if I were to walk to my office I would burn 95 calories or the equivalent of 47.5 leaves of lettuce, apparently.
