30 Things Every Self-Identified Piece Of Fandom Trash Will Want To Own

No matter your fandom, there are certain things that unite those of us with a tendency to get a litttttllee obsessed with fictional worlds (okay, maybe a lot obsessed). The smallest things give us all the feels. Our fandoms may be different, but there are some things (like the ones on this list) that everyone who gets down with the fandom ~lifestyle~ can appreciate. Because we're trash, and we're proud.

2. A specially designed "con survival" carryall more magical than Hermione's beaded bag — it basically solves every logistical issue you've ever had at a convention.

thinkgeek.com

It's genius in so many ways. It's got a hinged front compartment with a clear plastic pocket, so you can store your tablet and check your sched without taking it out (you can even use the touchscreen through the plastic!). There's an opening between the main compartment and the front so you can thread a portable charger cord through to your device. The shoulder strap has a second layer of nylon for displaying all the pins you accumulate without poking holes in your precious bag. One of the water bottle holders on the side even expands and opens on the bottom so it can hold a poster or, yes, a lightsaber. It's so useful, you'll even wanna use it in your "normal person" life.

Promising review: "I'm a San Diego Comic Con veteran here to tell you that I don't know how I ever lived without this bag. You can keep your comics upright without them getting damaged, and the crossbody strap is comfortable. I could go on and on about this bag. ThinkGeek always makes amazing, well-designed products by geeks for geeks." —lasenorarivera

Get it from ThinkGeek for $34.99 or Amazon for $35.99.

3. A handy lap desk that'll make reading copious amounts of fanfic in bed even more enjoyable (betcha didn't think that was possible).

6. Geek Out, a trivia game that encourages you to try to out-geek your friends. Bring. It. On.

walmart.com

Each question asks you to list a set number of things that fall under a given category (for example, Batman's enemies). Other players can then place "bids" and bet that they can list even more than you to steal your points.

Promising review: "Whether you're a giant nerdy fan or slightly in touch with your blooming nerdy side, this is a game you'll love. There are five categories: games (board, tabletop, and video are all represented here), comics (from DC to Marvel), sci-fi (from Red Dwarf to Dr. Who to Firefly to Star Wars/Trek, they're all here) and fantasy (novels and even musicals), as well as a miscellaneous category that contains a wide variety of questions. This is truly a fantastic game. If you're not as big of a nerd, you still have a shot in this game, since there are also questions about less obscure things (I've run across questions about movies with Johnny Depp, Leonardo DiCaprio, etc.). Plus, since you roll the dice to choose your category, you've always got a chance to stump someone." —Inigo's Poppa

Get it from Amazon or Walmart for $15.20.

Promising review: "This is an awesome set of markers. You can pretty much draw anything with them. I love that they're double-sided; one side has a fine tip and the other side has a thick one. One of these would also make a great gift for an equally geeky friend.

Promising review: "I've bought and decorated over a dozen of these. They're great to work with and easy to customize using Apoxie modeling compound to sculpt hair and clothes. I recommend soaking the dolls in boiling water for about a minute to loosen the glue and remove the heads (they're much easier to work with when their heads are off). Just reattach the heads with super glue when you're finished sculpting and painting." —Helen

28. A wash-out hair color for anyone who wants to do an accurate cosplay but still go back to their civilian hair color the next day.

walmart.com, Katy Herman / BuzzFeed

I absolutely swear by this stuff. I've been cosplaying Tonks at Harry Potter events for almost ten years, and this completely upped my costume game. Applying it can be messy, but it's worth it. Just put a towel down on the countertop and set aside a cheap brush that you only use with this (it also comes with a helpful little wand for applying it). The color becomes even brighter after you blow dry it. I make sure to shampoo thoroughly before getting in bed so it doesn't get all over my pillowcase, but after one wash, my hair is back to normal! I thought I'd have to bleach and then dye my hair to get color this vibrant, but nope!

Get it from Walmart for $5.31+ (available in four colors).

29. The FanFiction.net app so you can follow your favorite fics on the go. You'll never be salty about having time to kill in public ever again.

Katy Herman / BuzzFeed, itunes.apple.com

Have I read smut in line at the DMV? Maybe.

The app has a much more modern interface than the website. The best part is how easy and comfortable it makes the reading experience. You can choose between 11 different fonts (including one that helps with symptoms of dyslexia) and customize your font size, so it's just as enjoyable (if not more so) than reading on your laptop.

Download it for free for Apple devices here or for Android here.
