You probably knew Hilary Duff as Lizzie McGuire, but this Disney Channel homegirl wanted to carve her own path and become the pop diva she rightfully deserved to be.
So she came out with this national treasure, the greatest collection of songs in existence. They weren't just catchy AF, but offered us inspiring messages that spoke directly to our souls.
"So Yesterday" perfectly captured the experience of moving on and flying away from someone who isn’t worth your time. Unless you’re a robot, you connect to this shit. DEEPLY.
“Come Clean” literally started a revolution. It taught us to wash away our old ways of thinking and embrace the person we truly are. If that’s not empowerment, then I don’t know what is.
LOOK AT THIS AND TRY NOT TO FEEL SOMETHING.
"Sweet Sixteen" was the anthem that defined every prepubescent’s maturation into adulthood. It encouraged us to shine, spread our wings, and discover that life goes beyond our middle school walls.

This album could even be used as an educational tool for the youth of America. "The Math" made us want to solve equations and know if ~enough really equaled enough.~ Yeah, contemplate that shit.
And OK, one of the album's singles "Little Voice" was life-changing. It reminded us to listen to the subconscious whispering in our ear, "DON'T DO THAT, YOU IDIOT," saving us all.
"La la la la la la la la la la la," -you, singing along to that dope-ass hook.
THERE WAS EVEN A BONUS TRACK. "Why Not" was the masterpiece of a creative genius. Hilary showed us that we needed to OPEN OUR EYES AND TAKE A CRAZY GODDAMN CHANCE.
"WEAR THAT GOLD DRESS. BE BOLD. LIVE YOUR FREAKING LIFE," she pretty much told us. AND WE LISTENEDDDDD.
AH AH AY YA AH AH AH AY AY YAAAAAAAA.
This album even doubled as a STYLE GUIDE BECAUSE HILARY LOOKED LIKE A GODDESS AND WE ALL WANTED TO BE HER.
