Swapping out tampons can save your health (& wallet) in the long run

Posted on

1. First off, what's a menstral cup?

Yulia Grigoryeva

According to Wiki, "A menstrual cup is a type of feminine hygiene product which is usually made of medical grade silicone, shaped like a bell and is flexible. It is worn inside the vagina during menstruation to catch menstrual fluid (blood)."

2. Why swap out tampons?

Non-organic tampons contain bleach, fragrance and often GMO Cotton. Toxic chemicals, drying agents, and synthetics are not wanted in your vaginal wall.

6. 1 menstral cup will last years! You will save serious $.

At the end of your cycle you can sterilize your cup by boiling it in hot water. Thats it. most come with an eco-friendly pouch your can place under your sink until next month.

7. Your period will become shorter and lighter.

THIS. This is where things get magical. After months of swapping in the cup, my period became lighter and I went from 5/6 days to 3/4. While I had heard this from other women, despite my investigative style of research I have not found the reason WHY this is so. (I'm determined to find/ update my reasoning shortly). -Kathleen Davis
