We Know Which One Of Your Family Members Will Ruin Thanksgiving

Whoops! You went into Thanksgiving expecting the worst, and you kind of, sort of, definitely drank a little too much booze and ended up breaking into tears at the dinner table. Hey, everyone has bad days, but it's gonna be a little awkward when you see everyone again over the winter holidays.

You always knew she was a bit odd, but you never thought that once everyone sat down for dinner, Carol would try to recruit everyone into a multi-level marketing scheme! NO, Aunt Carol, you're not going to invest in her new "business," and you're definitely not going to recruit any of your friends to help sell organic beauty products. Pass the stuffing, please.

Before Thanksgiving, your entire family agreed over group text NOT to discuss politics, just so you could enjoy the holiday without any stress. But Grandpa doesn't have a smartphone and didn't get the message, and he'll go on an upsetting rant about anyone who voted differently than he did. Even worse? He won't let the subject drop, which means that a big argument is inevitable. Your best bet is finding a place to hide until it all blows over.

Stan isn't technically related to any of your family. He's your dad's old neighbor or something? You can't remember. But he's been showing up to holiday dinners and insisting you call him "Uncle Stan" for years. This time, though, he'll have one beer too many and actually slap your mom's butt! In front of everybody! Wow, you've never seen a man get thrown out of a house so quickly. Once he's gone, though, Thanksgiving will return to normal, so at least that's something.

You and your sis don't always see eye-to-eye, but you do love each other. That's why it's so shocking when she starts grilling you, in front of everybody, about when you're going to grow up, get married, have kids, and take responsibility for your life. Hey, but that's why God invented alcohol, right? Pass the merlot.

Your older sister

You're worried that YOU'LL be the target of disapproval, but luckily for you, Cousin Mike is going to announce that he's dropped out of law school to pursue a career as a puppeteer. Your aunt and uncle will explode in anger, the whole table will start fighting, and you can discreetly slip away to enjoy not getting yelled at.

Your dad is smart enough not to bring up politics at the dinner table. Unfortunately, to him, that means criticizing your career is fair game. Why aren't you making more money? Why haven't you been promoted yet? You'd be doing so much better if you'd gone to medical school, like HE told you to. Just keep your head low and try to deflect as much as possible; in a few hours, Thanksgiving will be over and you can go back to living your life the way YOU want to.

Your family all love each other, deep down. Deep, DEEP, down. But one thing is for sure: Your communication skills are all terrible, and despite your best efforts, it's not long before Thanksgiving devolves into snippy comments, pointed criticisms, and screaming matches. Someone might even throw the mashed potatoes. But once everybody gets it all out of their systems, everything calms down, you laugh about it, and go back to enjoying Thanksgiving with your family. Sometimes you need a little drama during the holidays.

Your family's not perfect, but all of you are so grateful to be together over Thanksgiving that nobody dares ruin it with petty arguments or silly judgments. Instead, you focus on the joys and successes each of you have had over the past year, and simply enjoy each other's company while eating some delicious food. What a well-adjusted group you are!
