These 29 Black-Owned Businesses And Creators Can Have My Full Attention And My Wallet, Too

These creators and owners deserve their flowers!

Support Black Businesses and Creators

We are in a time when there are tons of new small businesses opening up every day and same day in the life vlogs on social media, but if I can count on one group to the think outside the box creatively, it's Black creators and business owners. Here's a group of some of my favorite people and brands who are on my radar.

1. Brandon Blackwood

Brandon Blackwood created a handbag empire that changed the fashion industry. His label launched in 2015 and has seen sudden growth. 

2. CISE

CISE is a Black-owned clothing line whose "Protect Black People" initiative created beautiful apparel everyone should own. Marsai Martin wearing the brand had social media in a tizzy back in 2020.

3. Telfar Clemens

Teflar Clemens is the founder of the label Telfar. In 2020 we saw a bunch of new Black businesses take a sudden rise to the top with Teflar being one of the leading ones. Teflar has created the "it-bag" of the decade, and I plan on seeing the brand's popularity continually increase.

4. Hanifa

Anifa Mvuemba is the creator of Hanifa. Hanifa is a brand focused on ready-to-wear collections for women that wear sizes 0–20. Hanifa is a brand that was featured on Beyoncé's directory of Black-owned brands. 

5. Pyer Moss

Kerby Jean-Raymond founded Pyer Moss in 2013. My favorite part about the brand is the innovative storytelling they consistently have on their runways. If you need an example of a classic show, watch my personal favorite. (NYFW 2021)

6. Julian Bass

Visual effects artist Julian Bass took the VFX game by storm with crazy content videos over the past year. He now has a show on Facebook where he breaks down some of his filmmaking critiques.

7. J Ivory

Creative Director Jaurdane Ivory's daily affirmation posts are on point every day! If you're not following the Dallas-based artist (s/o triple d), then you're missing out on a breath of fresh air.

8. Justin Ellen

The 19-year-old cook runs a six-figure cooking business. He skipped college and turned himself into a culinary master.

9. Ricky Williams

Former NFL running back Ricky Williams is a successful businessman with plenty of ways to get capital. One way is Highsman. He sells cannabis products, apparel, and accessories that will get you feeling relaxed anytime and place.

10. Tabitha Brown

Tabitha Brown does it all! She's an actor, vegan chef, author, and has her own clothing brand. She creates some of the most genuine content out there, and my mom uses her seasonings that smack... I recommend everyone to try.

11. Chanise Simms-Robinson, Out of Office Events

Out of Office has found that creating safe spaces for Black professionals to network externally is more beneficial than internal employee resource groups and has been proven to drive retention. Chanise organizes events such as fireside chats, panel discussions, workshops, and more for companies' diverse employees. 12. Mielle

After going viral for posting about her hair routine, Monique Rodriguez founded Mielle in 2014. Her products are sold all over the US by places such as JC Penny and Walmart.

13. Jayda Wayda

Jayda Cheaves has been one of the most poppin' Black Instagram darlings since the early ages of the app, when she was a teen. Now she is a successful entrepreneur, as we see with her brand Waydamin. They just recently had their first successful pop-up shop.

14. B. Simone

Fellow Pleasant Grove native B. Simone is a force to be reckoned with. She is the CEO of a vegan and cruelty-free makeup brand named B.Simone Beauty. She's an actor and also has done stand-up comedy.

15. T. Dionne

T. Dionne is a creative director and stylist based out of Los Angeles. Her pieces push women's and men's fashion forward. Futura 2022 may be sold out by the time you read this; if not,  you should rush to get in now.

16. The Honey Pot Company

Bea Dixon stated that she was suffering from bacterial vaginosis until one night she had a dream...and the dream gifted her with a vision to heal herself. Now Dixon owns THPC, a feminine care company.

17. Blase Co

Dallas native Shedrick Collins has created a movement with his clothing brand, Blase Company. With his "Check on Your Strong Friends" Apparel, he has changed and impacted so many lives and, I expect, millions of more soon.

Black Billionaires Club is a brand killing it on the scene with the purpose of redefining luxury.

19. Nola Skinsentials

Being sold in stores such as Urban Outfitters, Nolaskinsentials makes vegan handcrafted skincare in small batches, particularly for Black skin.

20. Vegan Hippie Sol

Chef Dominique Williamson created a vegan cookbook that gives a healthy take on some of our favorite Southern meals. Teriyaki Chick'n, Spicy Korean Fried Chick'n, Vegan Cosmic Browniezzz...to name a few.

Former UT Austin football player Femi Yemi-Ese is an athletics performance trainer that has worked with some of your favorite football players in the offseason. His athletics performance coaching prowess translates well in his reel videos and client work for those trying to get summer bodies.

Empire AV is a Black-owned business willing to travel... They do AV installers for commercial and residential. Their videos draw in good views that helped them to work with major franchises across the country. 

27. Saucy Santana

The former makeup artist turned rapper is one of the brightest stars in the hip-hop game today, while providing some of the funniest videos you will ever see. I'm waiting on the Santana reality show.

28. Druski

Druski is one of the funniest people on the planet. Still waiting to see his executive producing skills come to play with "Coulda Been Records," but if you don't have his notifications turned on, you're missing out, as he is one of the best personalities of our times.

29. Joe Budden

Former rapper turned mega-host Joe Budden has been one of the best podcasters in the world over the past decade! He has revolutionized the space in the hip-hop world and has his own network that posts twice a week on YouTube.
