Please, just try to be understanding when "Pokémon Go" crashes. They're doing their best with what they've got.
They obviously had no idea how big this game was going to be, and did not plan accordingly.
But don't worry, they're already working on building up a more robust infrastructure.
This server bank here is responsible for evenly distributing wild pokémon. It's working hard to make sure you don't get too many Rattatas or Pidgeys.
This is the server that makes sure your pokédex stays up-to-date and that every pokémon you catch gets registered.
This massive server farm is set up just to handle gym encounters.
And this server manages all pokémon that you send to the professor.
Niantic's technicians are doing their very best to make sure we can play soon.
It's a difficult task, but they've got all their best people on it. Hopefully they'll get the servers back up soon. For a few minutes, at least.
