Anna Dorn's Vagablonde has a similar premise: lawyer Prue van Tessen wants to be a famous rapper, and the book chronicles her journey to getting there and how she dissociates along the way. Both the show and book take place in Los Angeles, giving the already similar stories a similar backdrop.
