Choose Between A "House Of The Dragon" Character And Their "Game Of Thrones" Counterpart (Yes, It's Absolutely Vile)

We can't all win in Westeros.

A lot went down in last week's episode of House of the Dragon and, between the weird family dynamics and the scheming politics, it's giving major Game of Thrones vibes.

While each character on HOTD stands on their own as unique and complex, it's hard not to spot comparisons to notable characters from the first series. Here are some pairs that have striking similarities...now choose your favorite!

Rhaenyra Targaryen or Daenerys Targaryen?

Despite being born generations apart, Rhaenyra shares a number of similarities with Game of Thrones' resident Mother of Dragons. Namely, both women are fighting for their rights in a man's world. Each has a claim to the iron throne and about a thousand obstacles standing in their way. Their upbringings prove to be wildly different (Rhaenyra spends her childhood as a proper princess while Dany and her brother live in exile), but both feel utterly alone. Fierce and powerful, these Targaryens strive to take what is rightfully theirs — with fire and blood.

Alicent Hightower or Cersei Lannister?

These conniving queens are dealt a pretty terrible hand. Both have fathers who force them into a high-profile marriage to bolster their family name and, in turn, are subjected to a life of producing heirs. Despite wearing the crown, they have little say while their husbands are still in power, though both learn to manipulate in order to get what they want. Both Alicent and Cersei are protective mothers and would do just about anything to secure the safety and birthright of their children.

Viserys I Targaryen or Robert Baratheon?

Are either of these guys fit to sit on the throne? On one hand, you have Robert Baratheon, who spends most of his days feasting and drinking. On the other hand, you have Viserys, who desperately wants to keep peace amongst family members. However, at least Robert won the throne in battle before he became somewhat useless. Westeros has certainly seen worse kings than these two, but their rocky reigns are a catalyst for some serious drama.

Daemon Targaryen or Tyrion Lannister?

These two are "baby brother" vibes all the way. Daemon and Tyrion not only have an older sibling sitting on the throne but struggle to find any commonality with their respective ruling relation. Both make it clear that they've always felt like an outcast in the family and take it upon themselves to create their place in the world. Both have the ability to be very selfish and they tend to use their sharp wit and intelligence to play the game.

Criston Cole or Daario Naharis?

For a time, at least, these babes both serve their Targaryen queen with unparalleled devotion. These guys are skilled warriors who vow to protect their sovereign before accidentally catching major feels. Their romantic endeavors ultimately become their downfall, with Dany ditching Daario in Meereen and Rhaenyra giving Criston Cole the boot after he asks her to run away with him. Ouch.

Corlys Velaryon or Olenna Tyrell?

Before you come at me, hear me out. In many aspects, Olenna Tyrell is the Corlys Velaryon of her time. These wise leaders of their houses have been around long enough to know the way the world works. It would appear that Corlys cares for his wife and children, just as Olenna cares for Margaery and Loras, but boosting the family name comes before true happiness. Both marry off family members for political gain and, at the end of the day, will do whatever it takes to rise up in the world.

Rhaenys Targaryen or Catelyn Stark?

After Rhaenys was denied the crown for being a woman, she eventually finds peace in a simpler life with her husband and children. She tells Corlys that even if she could have the throne, she wouldn't want it, and is devastated that he still strives for power over their family's happiness. As part of an important house in the North, Catelyn also finds turmoil in her husband's political duties. She places her children's well-being above all else and would give up the family's power in a heartbeat if it meant their safety.

Larys Strong or Petyr Baelish?

Only time will tell which of these schemers is more snakey. Larys, the lord who seems to appear by Alicent Hightower's side anytime there is drama, is definitely up to no good. He has already assisted in slyly turning Alicent against Rhaenyra and is unbothered by his father and brother's fiery demise. Littlefinger has similar creepy habits. The number of times he calmly appeared by Sansa Stark's side — and other characters — to plant ideas for personal gain is unreal.

Otto Hightower or Tywin Lannister?

These two men truly need to do less. Otto Hightower and Tywin Lannister have both pawned a daughter off to marry a king in hopes their grandchild might inherit the iron throne. They also both serve as Hands of the King, which means they low-key have more power than the actual king himself. Each has mastered the art of lying and manipulating, and their obsession with a grandchild claiming the crown is totally toxic.

Harwin Strong or The Mountain?

At the height of their day, Harwin Strong ("Breakbones") and Gregor Clegane ("The Mountain") earn the reputation of being the strongest warrior in the Seven Kingdoms. As the Commander of the City Watch, Ser Harwin dedicates himself to protecting the royal family, even when it interferes with his personal relationship with Princess Rhaenyra. The Mountain is far more heartless, but also serves the royal family when he becomes Cersei Lannister's sworn protector.

Vhagar or Drogon?

House of the Dragon has featured a few key dragons so far, but Vhagar strikes me as a leading lady. It appears that she's the oldest and largest dragon to walk Westeros during this point in time, and considering Aemond has just bonded with her, chaos is sure to ensue. Game of Thrones featured three dragons but none more fearsome than Drogon. He was clearly the leader of the pack and stuck with his mother until the end.
