I would suggest “Annual” editions, which are usually stand-alone stories set within the characters’ current milieu. “Graphic Novels” are similar, or compilations of several landmark issues.  What is generally regarded as the best of these is “The Dark Knight Returns,” although it is grim, violent, and eighties-ish: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Dark_Knight_Returns A lot of people like Deadpool, because of the humor, but for my money, the best comic books out there are for Guardians of the Galaxy. No question. In terms of the specifics, ComicCat is probably the best/easiest to use digital comic book reader (especially for tablets): https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=meanlabs.comicat&hl=en Look for news articles on comics to see what’s good, e.g.,  http://www.ew.com/article/2014/07/24/hawkeye-19-to-tackle-deafness-with-sign-language-empty-word-bubbles And check your local library, or other listings of what’s popular, and check out whatever sounds like something you can relate to: https://kat.cr/usearch/nem%20category%3Abooks/

The system is broken. “Don’t stay in school” to the rescue.
